HEAD’EM UP! THE STAMPEDE IS NEXT!
Haubstadt, IN - June 19, 2015 - The Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car Series will return to action at the Tri-State Speedway on Saturday night June 27th. This event is unlike any other all season at the track in that it will be an all 410 sprint car show with the MSCS Sprints appearing on the same program with the MOWA Winged Sprints. The feature for each series at the Southern Indiana Sprint Stampede will pay $2,000 to win.
Currently the hottest driver on the MSCS circuit is Brady Short. He will be looking for a third consecutive MSCS victory on the 27th. He has won the last two features conducted by MSCS. Both were held at Tri-State Speedway where he is very effective. Brady won there on May 24 and again on June 6th. His versatility is also demonstrated in that overall he has won four MSCS features this season at three different tracks.
Brady Short leads the series in points as the drivers prepare for the 10th race on a twenty race MSCS schedule. Carson Short ranks second in MSCS points. It is just his third year to compete with MSCS. He trails Brady Short by just 38 points. The two lead a top five that includes Robert Ballou, Jon Stanbrough, and 2014 MSCS Rookie of the Year James Lyerla. Brandon Morin is sixth in points and he is the top rookie driver so far this season. Kyle Cummins, Max McGhee, Jeff Bland Jr., and Brandon Mattox round out the top ten.
Robert Ballou was in victory lane at the Stampede a year ago after outgunning Kyle Cummins and Jeff Bland Jr. Kevin Thomas Jr. won the MSCS portion of the inaugural event in 2013. MOWA winners the previous two years have been Jerrod Hull and Shane Stewart.
Each year that this race is held the possibility of a driver doing double duty does exist. It is more complicated than adding or taking off the wing. Time constraints and changing the set up for the car add to the difficulty. Very few have tried. Robert Ballou was the only driver to do double duty in 2013. He finished in the top ten in both features! Last year Kent Schmidt and Jordan Kinser competed in the evening’s events for both series.
Racing at Tri-State Speedway begins at 7:30 P.M., C.D.T. The track is located three miles North of I-64 on Highway 41 at Haubstadt, IN. Adult tickets are $20, students $15, and children 12 and under are admitted free. Reserved seats are available for an additional $3 per seat.
Once again on June 27th, Tri-State Speedway will continue to uphold its’ tradition as the Class Track in presenting a winning combination with MSCS and MOWA drivers racing at the speedway in the Southern Indiana Sprint Stampede. This occasion is designed to double the excitement for sprint car fans and it all happens the same night!
