Northwest Wingless Tour Set For First SSP Visit Of 2015 By Ben Deatherage
Banks, Oregon- The Northwest Wingless Tour is excited to return to Sunset Speedway Park on Saturday June 20th for Premier Community Bank-Habitat For Humanity Night. It will be the first time in 2015 that the Wingless Warriors have visited the “Banks Bullring”. And to supplement the car count the Oregon Double Shot Series will also be in town.
Already in the current campaign the Northwest Wingless Tour has had three races with three different winners. Kyle Miller, Tim Alberding, and Mike Romig have managed to be victorious in 2015 competition. Will a fourth different winner emerge Saturday night?
In seventeen visits to Sunset since 2009 the NWWT has produced nine different winners. Bill Winsley leads the series in feature wins at SSP with four over Gary Davis who has three. Drivers that have two series wins at the ¼-mile clay oval include Theo McCarty, Sterling Kane, and Mitch Hoffses. Earning just one series victory when the tour has come to town have been Ryan Bothwell, Mark Nichols, and Tony Thomas. Guy Weedman won the only 2014 event for the Northwest Wingless Tour.
The ODSS have been in action at Madras Speedway twice this year. Wayne Van Raden won the season opener on May 9th while Josh Horner would be victorious a couple of weeks later on the 30th.
Pit Gates on Saturday will open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates open at 4:00, and racing starts at 6:30. Tickets for this event are Adults $13.00, Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-18) $10.00, Youths (Ages 12-6) $5.00, and Children under the age of 5 are FREE and a family pass will be offered for two Adults and up to four Youths for just $35.00.
