Reading some of more recent posts in this forum has me wondering, thinking out loud actually.  I am curious as to how many of you folks reading this right now have been around here at least a dozen years.  I know many may have 'given up' so to speak with regards to posting anymore but I would love to see some of them just make a quick post as somewhat of an old fasioned roll call.  Pat Grant mentioned in a previous post about just how many people in the old days were actually involved with the sport used to post, owners, drivers, crew the whole nine yards, they were the fun days.  Sadly, idiots and the like chased them off, heck I know how many people used to get upset with me, lol.  Times change we have a new generation of fans and there is certainly a difference in some of their ways, c'est la vie.

Hope to hear from a few oldies, it's all good, Take It Easy....

I think it's unfair to say that posters caused people to leave - the emergence of social media gave them a direct method of interacting with their market. Additionally, many drivers/teams have started generating press releases that are distributed to keep fans in the loop as opposed to posting on any forum (including Hoseheads).

That's not to say that posters have had no impact, but it would be extremely marginal compared to that of the above points.

I originally signed up here in June of 2000. I have nothing to offer the sport other than my drunken attendance.

ps: I am looking for Race Car Johnny. I hope he is still alive.  #CentralPaBoard

I have been told specifically by many of those for whom I speak and their reason was virtually the same in every instance, moronic posters/haters.  Why would someone come on and contribute with first person knowledge only to be bashed by some no talent, no brain poster from his Mom's basement, it happened and it ended for many of the old regulars....

Mike, I have no idea what year I first stumbled onto Hosehead's. '98, maybe? I remember the first time we talked, was in a sprint car chatroom. It wasn't too busy, lol, I think there was only one other person in the room. Was that Hosehead's, or another site? After talking awhile, we determined I lived only 30 miles from Kim, and you had brought her to a restaurant/bar here for her birthday. Now, do you remember where we first met face to face?

As for the idiots chasing people off, when I first got here, I was one of those idiots. My original goal was to agitate and irritate other posters. I never bashed drivers (never have and never will,) but tried my best to rile people up, and I'm not at all proud of my first actions here. I finally realized that 99% of the people here were great people. Just like the people I had known, all my life, in the "real" racing world. So, I cleaned my act up, and have made some great, lifelong friends and acquaintances. I just wish I could see them more often. Hell, I haven't ran into Patrick in probably 7 or 8 years, if not more, and really regret missing you and Kim at the National's last year. I've taken a couple hiatuses from posting, but have always read or lurked. Hopefully the idiots of today will eventually get it, and realize the sprint car family and Hosehead's is a great family to be a part of.

Didn't actually register here until 2004, but lurked for many years prior to that. In the mid 90's I was pretty active with a few of the other chats & forums.

Anymore only tend to check this bored once every week or two because the content has become so ridiculous. We used to be able to have good discussions here but that is long gone.

Miss the old days.

Not sure how long it has been Mike but it has been a long time! I remember a few of the Oldies, Shaun, Seve, Wertz, Foxy Lady, Wifey, Coachbob,  I want to say "Hazel" but I know that's not it (Calvin Landis MIL), and was it Beedie, everybodies favorite LOL?  I remember Brownie1 & Brownie2 back when we were all into the online Ratbag Racing, I thought Brownie2 was Brian Brown but I'm probably mistaken (This was a year or two before he started racing at Knoxville)

I still like to check in on this board more during the beginning of race season up to about the Nationals but after that not so much.

Anyway maybe I'll see you at Knoxville this year Mike.

You know I was around and even though I'm in my 60's I can still give the new generation of idiots a run for their money.  wink

Wertz is still on Facebook.  He doesn't go to many races anymore from what I gather but I see him at the track every once in a while.

Remember that. Can't remember which one it was but can remember sitting in motel rooms on Wednesday nights and meeting up in one of the chat rooms.
