Sprint Car legend Sammy Swindell takes over the driving duties at Jason Johnson Racing

Should be interesting to see how Swindell does at the tracks coming up on the schedule. I think he will be there until Johnson returns.

I hope Sammy's still driving when Outlaws hit the Grove!

I doubt highly that it will be in that car. Johnson should be back sometime early July.

 He's good at not tearing stuff up and that helps. I really hope he does well as he's my guy but any top 10's will be a good night. He'll need to start up front to finish up front. Hey, I hope I'm wrong and he kicks some tail.

I know there are alot of Sammy haters on here but I think this move shows the character of Sammy. I don't it is so much about him wanting to race as it is him helping a team figure out the tricks of 410 racing. Sammy has helped so many drivers behind the scenes over the years. This is his way of giving back to the sport. Very smart move by JJR to put him in it. Best of luck to Sammy and the whole JJR team. 

God forbid he put up better and more consistent results in the car than it's former driver did. Im obviously a Sammy fan, but I love McCarl too. Sammy was the better choice at the time, simple as that. Had nothing to do with character.

Something about "the guy everybody loves to hate" makes me root for them...

Does he have to pay to drive it and for repairs like Veal did?

McCarl did very well in the Big Game car!! I never understood that move but then again it's not my money...Never been a big Swindell fan but I think it is a smart move by JJR because of the knowledge and experience he brings to the table..The results with Veal in the car are very comparable to what JJ was doing before he was hurt....The 41 will get some votes for the best looking sprint car in 2015!!

 How is it possible that one guy takes a good car and in a few months make it the fastest car in the country for a year and then takes that same car and diales it out so bad and it is so slow that they change everything bolted to it and nothing helped? One guy i say! 

People forget this car won a National Open, won a kings royal, and lost a kings royal and Knoxville nationals because a tire blew apart twice....in a real short time, with a guy at the end of his career.  Im glad and fortunate I got to see him run, even in the twilight he can fly.  

Sammy a class act ran into him outside of a race track.  We were both in line to pay and both got there at the same time and he said after you.

Exactly...  Sammy went from nearly winning the Nats to not even being able to make the A in just that one short time frame.   Who knows why, but the simple fact is that Sammy has been out to lunch since they went back to Hoosier tires.   Given this, I'm not sure how much he's going to help JJ.   It's not like Sammy's jumping in a car that's already running at the front.   Given Sammy's recent history, I don't know if I see this car making great leaps towards the front.   On the other hand, he's the best one out there that's available.   JJ really needs someone to do for him what Scott Gerkin has done for Sides.   I personally don't see Sammy doing that for him, but we'll see what happens.  That's the great thing about racing, it surprises all us experts just when we think something can't happen....
