_Wingless Sprint Championship on the Line Wednesday at Chico_
Only two points separate Rohnert Park driver Brandon Davis and Tracy resident Matt Streeter in the Wingless Sprint division finale during Wednesday night, September 5^th at Silver Dollar Speedway. The top 24 in points are the only drivers eligible for competing during the final race of the season. The points battle consists of races at the Silver Dollar
Speedway and Placerville Speedway during the 2007 season. Also racing on this night will be the Pacific Sprint Invitational featuring the top 32
in points from that series. This night of racing will kick off the fastest four nights of racing in California known as the 54^th Annual Gold Cup Race of Champions at Silver Dollar Speedway.
Front gate will open at 5 pm. Adult general admission into the grandstands is $20.00. Juniors are $12.00 and children $4.00. Racing is
slated to start at 7 pm.
Brandon Davis has led the point battle for most of the season. The rookie driver has five wins on the year. The real turning point in the championship came last Friday night when Davis was unable to transfer out of the B main event. Streeter not only qualified for the main event
but finished second to eventual winner Billy Wallace. After the night finished Streeter gained 33 points to close the chase down to just two points. Streeter also accomplished this in a new car. The DELTA DEMOLITION RACING #36 was driven to a Silver Dollar Speedway championship last year by Bob Newberry. This year Steeter had driven the Orth racing #24 until last Friday when the two parted ways. In stepped the #36 and Streeter was able to make the championship interesting again. This is the closest battle for a championship in the shot history of the wingless sprints.
Browns Valley rookie Cody Myers sits in the third spot. Myers is only 29-points back of Davis in the chase. Grass Valley driver Jay Youngman led the championship point battle for a few races earlier this season and now finds himself in the fourth spot. Youngman is out of the championship battle but still close enough to Myers to fight for third.
Orland driver Taylor Simas rounds out the top five. He has two main event wins this year. He is also the only driver in the top five to miss a race. In fact, he has missed three races this season.
The Smith brothers are locked into the sixth and seventh position. Older brother R.C. Smith sits in the sixth spot with five heat race wins. Cody holds down the seventh spot and has amassed three heat wins. The two are separated by just 29 points.
Santa Rosa veteran Sparky Howard sits in the eighth spot. Howard achieved his first main event win at Chico in nearly 20 years of racing
at the speedway in different racing divisions. Grass Valley native Billy Wallace sits in the ninth spot. Wallace has four main event wins this season. Orland driver Reyna Kruger rounds out the top ten. She has a solid fan following and six heat race wins this year.
