Robby Vaughn picked up the biggest win of his life leading the last 28 laps of the 30-lap Kasey Kahne Foundation Sprint Car Challenge.

Before a sold out crowd of rabid Kasey Kahne and Tony Stewart fans, Robby Vaughn won the second annual Kasey Kahne Foundation Sprint Car Challenge at Skagit Speedway.
On the initial start Steve Kilcup took the lead, but Vaughn was strong and took over on the third lap. The first stoppage of the race occurred when Brian Kirkpatrick and Even Funk flipped down the back straight bringing out the red flag. A few laps later Danielle Huson spun and Tony Stewart came to a rest beside her, tearing off a brake line and ending his night. On lap 16 Jason Cocking came to a stop after whacking the front straight wall for the second straight lap. From there it went green until lap 24 when Travis Rutz came to a stop in turn 3 with a flat right rear tire. On each restart Vaughn pulled away. Back in the pack Kahne went from fifth to third but was unable to get around Brock Lemley and gain another spot.
Kahne set fast time with a 12.216 lap around the 3/10th mile, high-banked clay oval. An average lap speed of 91.356 miles per hour.
The heat races were won by Jared Peterson, Seth Bergman, Barry Martinez and Rutz.
At intermission Skagit Speedway presented the Kasey Kahne Foundation with a $140,000.00 check. You can find out more at www.KaseyKahneFoundation.org .
The companion Wilson Auto Broker Outlaw Hornet main event was won for the second time in three weeks by Ken Higby. Second place was Chris Erickson and 16-year old Ashley Lewellen was third. Higby and point leader Greg Hibma won the heat races.
