CAMARGO, IL (8-24-07) As the 2007 racing season begins to wind down,
the All Stars will heat things up on Labor Day weekend. The 2007
championship points battle is taking shape as defending champion Greg
Wilson trails veteran driver Danny Smith by only 34 points. The two
have been within striking distance of each other throughout most of the
season with third place runner Brian Paulus just waiting for one of
them to slip up. Paulus leads the 2007 Rookie of the Year points and
would like a crack at the All Star title. Brandon Martin has been
consistent all season long and sits solidly in fourth place going into
the weekend. Paul May rounds out the Top 5 as these heavyweight
contenders are set to enter the ring and duke it out for three rounds
during the All Star Labor Day “Fall Brawl” weekend.
Round #1 is Don Martin’s Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, PA on Friday
August 31st . Danny Smith was the victor when the series last visited
Lernerville back on June 5th. He also stole the season point lead from
Wilson, who now has the opportunity to return the favor. In addition to
the All Stars, the always tough Lernerville regulars will be looking
for a $5,000 payday when the traveling series comes to town. Kevin
Schaeffer leads the Lernerville season points over Rod George and Ed
Lynch Jr. who will all enter the ring with fists flying as the All
Stars invade Western PA for the 35 lap opening round in the Sonia
Bullis Memorial race. The All Stars will go to a one lap qualifying
format for this event as the MACS Late Models are also on the card.
Round
#2 will take place at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, OH on Saturday
September 1st . The All Stars make their fourth and final visit to the
North Central Ohio facility for the 2007 season. Brock Mayes has one
Attica All Star victory this season and Dale Blaney has two. The Attica
regulars will provide tough competition for the traveling series as
Byron Reed narrowly defeated Lee Jacobs for the 2007 track
championship. Along with local stars such as Mark Keegan and John Ivy
in the ring, the All Stars will need to be fast on their feet and keep
swinging until the checkered flag falls on the 30 lap affair.
Round
#3 will be decided on the mountain top at Hilltop Speedway in
Millersburg, OH on Sunday Sept. 2nd . The series last visited Hilltop
during Ohio Sprint Speedweek when Chad Blonde knocked out the
competition to pick up his 2nd All Star feature win in front of a
packed house. Another large field of cars is expected to be on hand to
enter the ring and go toe to toe for the prize money. NOTE: This event
will be the third and final "Double Points" event of the 2007 season.
Join
the O'Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions on Labor Day weekend as 24
heavyweight contenders enter the ring and duke it out for points and
prize money with the $50,000 to win season points championship on the
line. The excitement builds with only a few races left on the 2007
schedule. Will Greg Wilson repeat as champion? Will Danny Smith
prevail? Will Brian Paulus find a way to pounce on them both? Can
Brandon Martin or Paul May catch them all and wear the 2007 crown? Be
there to see all the action for yourself as the All Stars and local
stars meet. For more information on the All Star series, visit www.allstarsprint.com
