ALL COAST CHALLENGE UPDATE: 53 CARS ENTERED - $500 FAST TIME - 40 LAP MAIN EVENT - CUSTOM SURFBOARD FOR WINNER!

(Ventura, CA, May 1, 2015)  Just one week to go until the May 9th All Coast Challenge for the Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars at the Ventura Raceway and the news just gets better and better.  Race organizer Mike Grosswendt has announced that All Coast Construction is joining with the Woodland Auto Display for the fast qualifier award.  The winner of the 40-lap main event will receive a custom made Surfboard.  Perhaps the biggest development of all is the whopping amount of cars that have pre-entered what is going to be one of the premiere sprint car events on the West Coast in 2015.

The size of the purse and all of the perks have stimulated the pulse of the sprint car world, thus resulting in the high number of entries.  The highly anticipated race will pay $5,000.00 to win, $2,500.00 for second, $1,250.00 for third and $500.00 to start.  In addition, Jimbo McCoskey is kicking in $500.00 for the main event “Hard Charger” and just announced today, the fast qualifier will get $500.00 courtesy of the Woodland Auto Display and All Coast Construction.

The number of entries now stands at an amazing 53 cars.  Among the latest group of entrants is Sikeston, Missouri star Hunter Schuerenberg, 2013 USAC West Coast sprint car champion “Hollywood” Danny Faria Jr of Tipton, California and past VRA Sprint Car champions Jimmy Crawford and Greg Taylor who both reside in Ventura.

If the money is not enough, the first place trophy is a custom surfboard.

“It is a Roberts Surfboard 6’0” White Diamond 2 Tri Fin personally shaped by owner Robert Weiner especially for this event,” Grosswendt said on Friday.  “Robert was awarded “Shaper of the Year” for 2011 by Surfing Magazine and he will be at this event with his family.  I am supplying wax and the winner can wax it up Sunday morning and rip the Ventura Coastline.”

Another development is the race being increased from 30 to 40-laps on the picturesque beachside oval.  With the amount of money up for grabs, officials decided to give the drivers an extra 10-laps to battle for the bucks.

During intermission while the teams are getting their cars ready for the high dollar main event, kids in the grandstand will compete in a dance contest to The Beatles “Twist and Shout.”  The happy winner will take home a brand new Trek 820 Mountain Bicycle.  The bike was provided by Michael's Bicycles in Newbury Park, a family owned and operated bike store with the largest selection of mountain bikes in the Conejo Valley!  Be sure to visit Michael's Bicycles at the Newbury Square Shopping Center, 2257 Michael Drive, Newbury Park, CA.

Teams getting their entry in by tonight’s early entry deadline will receive a free entry and one free pit pass.  Drivers can call, text or E-mail their intention to race to Scott Daloisio at: (909) 226-7768 or mailto:[email protected]

Even though the early entry period ends tonight, entries can still come in until the day of the race.  All Coast is still offering $500.00 for any owner who puts David Cardey, Danny Sheridan, Shane Golobic, Bud Kaeding, Dave Darland, Jon Stanbrough, Gary Taylor, D.J. Johnson or Brandon Thomson in a car for the event.  Thus far bounties have been met for Schuerenberg, Nic Faas, Jonathon Henry and Ryan Bernal.

Each entered driver will receive a swag bag that will contain the event poster, All Coast Construction t-shirt, In N’ Out Burger gift card, “Saugus Speedway Scrapbook”, surf stickers, Surf N’ Sprint stickers, Ventura Raceway stickers and other surprises.  Any company or individual who would like to donate to the “swag bags” can call or E-mail the contact information at the start and end of this release

As earlier announced, any past VRA (Ventura Racing Association) champion or any locals who normally runs with VRA (who have started two VRA races prior to May 9th) will receive a free Hoosier right rear tire from All Coast.    Also, Arizona teams will receive $500.00 in tow money (if two teams travel together in one hauler, the $500.00 will be paid to the team that owns the hauler).

As stated above, teams are urged to pre-enter the event by May 1st to get the free USAC entry and free pit pass as well as help get the word out on who will be at the prestigious race.  Also those who pre-enter by the deadline will get the following benefits when they arrive at the track on race night.

TOW MONEY checks ready on arrival for AZ drivers

DRIVER GIFT BAGS on arrival

HOOSIER TIRES on arrival for VRA Regulars and Champions

BOUNTY MONEY for select driver checks ready on arrival

Teams that do not pre-enter will still receive all of the non-deadline perks above, but they will be mailed after the race.  More exciting announcements will be coming up after the early entry deadline.  Teams who have yet to sign up are urged to do so as soon as possible to alert their fans that they are participating in this bound to be epic race.

Dozens of lucky fans will go home with free T-shirts given away during the night that will be back sounded by Beatles music on a special P.A. system being brought in just for the race.  Longtime Perris Auto Speedway announcer Scott Daloisio will be on the microphone to call the action with Ventura’s Jim Naylor.

Pelkey is on the list.  Last time I talked to R.J. he was not sure and his wife just had a baby two days ago.  Have not heard anything on Charles.
