MSCS DRIVERS WILL PICK UP THE CHASE AT THE ACTION TRACK
Haubstadt, IN - April 21 - The Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car Series will conclude a busy April schedule with an appearance Sunday at the Terre Haute Action Track. The annual “Spring Fling” that evening will not only feature the MSCS competitors but include the addition of the most competitive drivers from the Hoosier state’s other special event and weekly tracks.
The “Spring Fling” will be the first of seven King of Indiana Sprint Series Races to be held at different tracks over a short, intensified two month period. These drivers will be competing in other events prior to and after a KISS show is held at their regular track. Combine that influx of drivers with the MSCS touring drivers and the race will be on. Two sets of points will be affected by the outcome!
The pit gate will open around three o’clock. Race teams are once again reminded to use the back gate to the fairgrounds to relieve some of the traffic congestion coming into the main gate. Drivers will need to arrive as early as possible to register and draw a pill for starting positions. The KISS race format will be used so passing points will not be a factor. Time trials will not be held.
Hot laps will get underway at 5 P.M. local time. Racing begins at 6:30! The earlier start time was set to get the Sunday race completed as early as possible. Monday is a back to work and school day for everyone.
Andy Hillenburg joins with Bob Sargent this season as the two team up to promote the racing at the Terre Haute fairgrounds facility. Racing has been a happening on the half mile there since 1952. The UMP Modifieds will also be on this program.
The last KISS and MSCS sanctioned event to be held at the Action Track was won by Robert Ballou in 2012. During the last two years rainy weather proved to be a culprit in preventing the racing from occurring.
MSCS features held at the track have enjoyed talented fields of drivers with very competitive rides. Some were already at the top of their game while others were adding to their racing reputations with an opportunity to race at Terre Haute a big step in the process. It is the only half mile track that MSCS will appear at this season and also the only half mile on the KISS tour.
The defending KISS Champion is Shane Cottle. Brady Short won the KISS title the year before for a second time. Kyle Cummins is the defending MSCS Champion. Chase Stockon currently leads the pack in MSCS Points. A KISS points leader will emerge as the racing activity unfolds Sunday. Of immediate concern Sunday night will be sizing up the competition, using that right foot, and winning the feature and the top prize of $2,500
Released as News and Information for MSCS.
