Was thinking about past winners and even those who had lead a lap on the competitive famed half mile in the Napa Valley at the Calistoga Speedway. Now I am pretty sure that a California native has not won a race at the half mile in which the WoO sanctioned the race. But has anyone ever lead a lap besides Brad Furr when he almost won the race back in 2002, I might have the year wrong, but it was the race the Oklahoma's Daryn Pittman took home the win. Just trying to recall before this weekends last race, and what might be the last WoO race at Stoga!. Whats wrong with this picture?!

Bill Sessa or Bobby Gerould would have those answers.

Tim Kaeding won a prelim back in '04 at the Harvest Classic while driving for Roth, and led laps during a prelim in '05 as well, but it's been a while since a local has led laps in the actual Sunday night A-main. Brad Furr's the last to do it as you said in '02.

according to hammer down stats johnny anderson won a narc/woo main on 9-23-78 on a day wolfie won b-main. i do not know if this was a duel sanctioned event, just listed as narc/woo. a narc/woo race on 6-10-78 won by rick ferkel is listed as a woo points race so it leads me to speculate they both may have been. this was a non-winged race.

Thats exactlly what I am looking for "team wright one." Wow back in 78, that was the first full year of the World of Outlaws. I was talking with my dad about this same question, and he also mentioned Johnny Anderson. I still have the program with Johnny Anderson in victory lane after his Gold Cup win. Back then was it cool to be seen in a cowboy hat? Well if this is indeed the last WoO race at the famed Calistoga Speedway, I sure as hell hope a local can win one before it closes its gates to the WoO travelers.
