with the all stars dying out and with the birth of two new and upcoming series which will be the to watch? both have some star power while seeming to have some great backing with them. i'm from northern minnesota so i don't know much about the drivers of the renegade series so i might be a bit bias.  However, it does seem like the NSL is getting a lot of star/big name power behind it with at least seven drivers who could win every night. However renegade has at least 3 guys who could win any given night too.  So which series (as of now) is the most intriguing and what factors are going to keep you following it?

National Sprint League                                                  Renegade Tour

Terry McCarl                                                                      Tim Shaffer

Brian Brown                                                                       Chad Kemenah

Danny Lasoski                                                                   Danny Smith

Ian Madsen                                                                        Greg Wilson

Bill Balog                                                                            Dean Jacobs

Wayne Johnson                                                                  Andrew Palker

Dusty Zomer                                                                      Travis Philo

Chris Martin                                                                       Cole Duncan

Brandon Stevenson                                                            Kody Swanson

                                                                                         Caleb Helms

                                                                                         Randy Hannagan

                                                                                         Ryan Meyers

Either way we are getting some young guys to different tracks with great guys to learn from. But I go Renegades, I am in Ohio.

Neither of them are coming anywhere near northern Minnesota.  I live down in Forest Lake so whatever runs at Saint Croix  Valley and Cedar Lake will do.  The Jerry Richert Sr. Memorial is going to be a joint IRA/NSL show but that's the closest they come and I don't think that race will look much different than it has in the past.  Most of the announced NSL regulars have already run it in the past.

If you like chasing races then NSL is probably the closets.  If they ran a joint NSL Renegade race somewhere that would probably be something to see.  I just watch whatever is close to home at those two tracks.  That works for me.

stan i know what you're saying about nothing up north, i live 20 minutes away from amsoil speedway and i rarely get to  see anything up here, but plenty of nights have been spent on the road to cedar lake, st. croix falls, and else where to catch the ira and the umss, but it with the nsl coming the jr memorial will be packed with talent again this year, yes mccarl, madsen, balog, zomer were there last year but now we get brown, lasoski, and johnson there too, definitely will be a talent filled show

I think it's a win win for sprint car racing as a whole!! But I'm in the same boat as alot of you, not much to look forward to up our way in West Fargo ND. I was really hoping River Cities speedway would pick up a NSL race, no luck so far on that! I will be following close on the web, but might be as close as they get to me??

I agree, this is a win win for sprintcar racing, we needed something in the midwest for along time, NSL should be a great series. I'm looking forward to the race at my home track, Farmington, MO. in May, hopefully will be the first of many trips to this track.

I'd say the NSL will give you more of the bigger names and some of the best this country has to offer.  If you don't put Brown in your top 3 or 4 in the country the last year or two you're not watching the same racing I am.  I don't think you've seen all the big names that will run most or all of the series yet either.  Looks like the Renegades have tomorrow's stars possibly.  Either way like said before, it's a win win for all of us, and I hope it strengthens the sport for years to come.

The NSL is something new, Renegades is more of a "recycled Allstars", so methinks NSL adds more... but I agree, win win

McCarl, Madsen, Balog and Zomer were all at the Memorial this year.  That's what I meant when I said the race won't change significantly.  There have been some heavy hitters running the Memorial over the years, their names as past winners are on the last T-Shirt I picked up.  The NSL affiliation might draw a few more that aren't always there every year.  Aside from that a person would have to take a trip at least as far as Jackson.  My travel budget is pretty much non-existent the past five years.  The wife is not a racing fan and she objects to me taking racing vacations without her and she won't set foot at a dirt track.  I can't say that I blame here, the last time I dragged her and some friends out the show went to 2am.  I caught hell when I came up from the infield and she hasn't been back since.

Fortunately there is plenty of great racing close to home so that I can do it on the cheap and still have enough left over to take her places that she enjoys.  If you are able to travel that will open up a lot of possibilities.  I used to enjoy those Jackson, Husets and Knoxville trips back in the day when I had more opportunities to travel.

Although Dobmeier is not with the NSL, I think you will be seeing him in a good majority of the shows when they are at the northern tracks - Huset's, Knoxville, Cedar Lake. Plus, I'm sure he'll be attending some of those big $ events.
