I have heard a similar rumor...  On behalf of a track that races sprint cars regularly... and on behalf of a Midwest-based 410 series... Please, please, please, please, please say NO.  For once we can finally all race together, we aren't buying tires just to race at certain tracks or series, we can have shows where different series join together... and the health of the sport shows it.

Two years ago tracks, series and drivers were spending too much time reading each others tire rules and deciding whether racing at an event was worth having to purchase the conforming tire.  We are past that.  The last thing we need is to introduce another tire unless it is universally adopted by the 410 world.  I don't think a change this late in the game would be "universally adopted" for 2015.

If it would not allow all and any series to run together in harmony, I agree with everything you just said!

I thought the last tire rule (implemented what 2 years ago) was a 5 year deal.

I'm not a fan of this rule either. Now we have to spend even more money to have the extra compound in the trailer all the time. Sometimes this may even lead to us running the wrong tire intentionally some night just because we have too much money tied up in a new tire that is not the correct one for the night.

Just to be clear, Knoxville Raceway 410's and the NSL tire rules will remain the same as Knoxville 410's were last season. Right rear tires must be Hoosier H15, H20 or Medium...cz

Ask yourself... do you own more tires or fewer tires than you did 3 years ago?

I view things like this as to whether a change moves us closer to the endzone of more affordable racing or a step further away.  I personally can't see where this is moving us closer.  If it isn't a move toward more affordable racing, then it should at least be a move toward better racing.  I can't speak for those who spend their time at the half miles, but for those of us who spend our time at the short tracks I don't see where it's going to improve our product much and will probably result in more tires sitting in trailers and shops.

FWIW, unless there's a groudswell of support for a change at our MOWA banquet this week or unless almost every other series/track adopts it, I don't see us changing.
