Robert Bell has the Official Record of Shortest Retirement in History. He announced it at the Knoxville banquet about 15 years ago, he didn't have a car that would pass the new safety requirements. A couple of hours later he won a new chasis in the year end giveaways and promptly walked to the stage and Unretired, it was the biggest applause of the whole night.....
Seeing Sammy on a part-time basis would be great and even better for the sport, if anyone could get some show-up money it would be him (and Steve), a promoters dream....

I am hearing that Sammy Swindell is talking of "un" retiring and racing sprints in 2015. I guess he is the Brett Favre of sprint cars.

Did he text that pic to you too?

Maybe after the love shown each other at the banquet Sammy and Steve have burried the so-called hatchet and decided to start a 2 car team and will show up unannounced at various tracks around the country and race just for fun.

Anybody know what Steve and Sammy said at the banquet? I heard they had a nice chat and a picture taken together at the Charlotte track but I haven't read anything else. They would both put fannies in the seats wherever they run. They really don't have to win anymore, just be competitive as many, many people take a certain comfort in just having them on the track. They've both meant and mean that much to the sport and bring a personality to it. So many drivers are introverts and these guys wear their feelings on their sleeves. Sammy's pretty quiet but says a lot even when he's not talking. Just watch him.

2 years, 10 months until my planned retirement. I hope the folks on HH's board can accept that decision because it's going to happen even if they beg me to come back and rate a few unit trains after I turn 66.

You're lucky I have a poor memory. Otherwise in 2 years and 11 months I would start a thread on here wondering if StanM was really coming out of retirement to rate a few unit trains on a part time basis as I heard from some guy from Minnesota!:-)

Go to swindell motor sports website and Sammy's schedule and Volusia is right there on it.

It shows as the 2015 schedule and thats all thats there, someone has to have updated it and I doubt that back in August when he said he was retiring they would have had 1 2015 WoO race put onto the schedule already and just haven't updated the site. I think there may be some legs to this rumor.
Come on IBRACN Brad, Give us what you've heard, you must have Sammy's phone #, give him a call and at least clarify if he's gonna race at Volusia, maybe he won't say for who yet but if he put it on the schedule you'd think he could confirm or deny.

LOL, somebody gets the humor in all of this off season madness.
I just show up at the track and whoever shows up is who I watch race that night. As the Carnival barkers say, "there's always a winner".
