BRYAN CLAUSON WINS 14TH ANNUAL HALL OF FAME CLASSIC

PEORIA, AZ – NOVEMBER 16, 2014... After finishing twelfth the previous night, Bryan Clauson of Noblesville, Indiana won Saturday’s finale of the “14th Annual Hose Advantage Hall of Fame Classic.” Co-sanctioned with the USAC National Sprints, the $5,000 victory at Canyon Speedway Park was Bryan’s ninth career Amsoil USAC/CRA triumph, tying David Cardey for eighth overall. “The People’s Champion Dave Darland, Brady Bacon, Mike Spencer, and Jon Stanbrough followed Clauson to the checkered flags.

Piloting the Tony Stewart Racing/Curb-Agajanian #20 Chevy Performance Beast, Bryan Clauson led all 30-laps to claim his fifth USAC/CRA win at the 1/3-mile oval. The two-time USAC National Sprint Car Champion was one of eleven drivers to break his 2012 track record, placing tenth out of thirty-one racers. In addition to running second to Mike Martin in his heat race, Bryan closed out 2014 ranked second in the National Series and twenty-fifth in the USAC/CRA point chase.

Starting seventh in the main event, Lincoln, Indiana’s “The People’s Champion” Dave Darland charged to a second place finish. Racing the Phillips Motorsports’ #71P Racers Advantage Store / Jockish Flowers DRC, Darland set a new track record and claimed his second career USAC/CRA Woodland Auto Display Fast Time Award. After lowering the old standard by four tenths of a second, the veteran driver was seventh in his heat race and ran second to Chase Stockon in the semi-main. Dave finished third in the National Series and tied for twenty-first with USAC/CRA.

Brady Bacon of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma celebrated his third place run at Canyon with the USAC National Sprint Car Championship. Driving the Hoffman Dynamics #69 Mean Green / Lykins Energy Solution XXX, Bacon qualified fourth overall and claimed second in his heat race. The newly crowned national champion left the track seated twenty-fourth in the USAC/CRA standings.

Temecula, California’s Mike Spencer claimed fourth in the Canyon Speedway Park main event. Piloting Ron Chaffin’s #50 Grubstake Mini Storage / Madera Produce Maxim, Spencer timed in fifth quick and ran fourth in his heat race. The five-time USAC/CRA Champion finished second in series points with one feature win, five Woodland Fast Time Awards, two heat race victories, one Competition Suspension Inc. / Rod End Supply Semi-Main win, one Keizer Wheels / Racing Optics Hard Charger Award, seventeen top-10 finishes, and 108 feature laps led.

Jon Stanbrough of Avon, Indiana ran fifth in the Hall of Fame Classic after starting ninth. Racing the Michael Dutcher Motorsports #37RW Griffin Propane / Indiana Underground Maxim, Stanbrough qualified seventh, ran seventh in his heat race, and took third in the semi-main. Placing fourth in the national series, the veteran driver sits twenty-ninth with USAC/CRA.

Tucson, Arizona’s Jerry Coons Jr. earned the night’s Keizer Wheels / Racing Optics "Hard Charger / Best Passing Job” honors with a twelfth place finish from twenty-first. Driving Gerry Cook’s #04G Lucas Oil / Beaver Stripes RSS, Coons was twenty-third fast in time trials and finished second to Michael Curtis in his heat race. In limited starts, the versatile driver placed fifty second with USAC/CRA.

Chad Boespflug of Plainfield, Indiana raced to victory in the 8-lap Extreme Mufflers Heat Race #1. Piloting the Baldwin Bros. Racing #5B Fox Paving / Kercher Engines Maxim, the Central California native qualified twenty-first and scored twentieth in the main event. Boespflug closed out the year ranked fifty-seventh in the USAC/CRA point standings.

Yuma, Arizona’s “The Magic Man” Mike Martin won the 8-lap DJ Safety Heat Race #2. Racing his #16 PPG / Boulevard Truck Maxim, Martin was twenty-second quick in time trials and scored twenty-first in the main event. The former “Hall of Fame Classic” winner is fortieth with USAC/CRA on the strength of two heat race victories and one top-10 finish.

Michael Curtis of Cottonwood, Arizona won his first USAC/CRA heat race in the Saldana Racing Products / Circle Track Performance sponsored event. Driving the Kevin Turner & Greg Wheeler owned #45C WSP / Metro Surveying XXX, Curtis qualified nineteenth and scored twenty-third in the 30-lap main event. Michael left Canyon tied with Markus Niemela for seventy-fifth in the USAC/CRA point chase.

Yorba Linda’s Matt Mitchell claimed the Pyrotect Racing Cells / Weld Racing Heat Race #4. Piloting his #37 Campbell Bros. Storage / Pit Boss Jacks Maxim, Mitchell was twentieth fast in time trials and scored fourteenth in the Hall of Fame Classic after starting eighteenth. The newly crowned USAC West Coast Champion finished third with USAC/CRA on the strength of one feature win, three heat race victories, one Competition Suspension Inc./ Rod End Supply Semi-Main win, one Keizer Wheels / Racing Optics Hard Charger Award, ten top-10 finishes, and 35 feature laps led.

Chase Stockon of Elizabethtown, Indiana won the 12-lap Competition Suspension Inc. / Rod End Supply Semi-Main. Racing his #32 Superior Tank & Trailer / Crescent Electric DRC, Stockon qualified sixth overall, placed fifth in his heat race, and was ninth in the main event. The young driver finished fifth in national points and tied with D.J. Johnson for thirtieth with USAC/CRA.
