Are you interested in deciding the following --the driver of the year , the promoter of the year , the best all around track , and who has done the most for racing ? these awards should be selected by you the Fans not the media members or even the Hall of fame . What do you think ?

I think those awards should be decided by people who can decide those things in an objective way as to who really deserves them. And I hate to burst your bubble, but that ain't the fans. Objectivity and common sense go out the window where fan votes are involved. People would probably vote Steve or Sammy in as driver of the year for 2014 even though neither one of them did squat just because of sentimental reasons. The MLB All Star game comes to mind decades ago when Mike Schmidt got voted into the game by the fans when he hadn't even played that year!
That being said, it really doesn't matter that much how it's done people will still think it was done the wrong way and somebody got cheated. Kind of like getting drivers inducted into the NSCHoF.

Dryslick WIllie over there^ has a point, but I'll play along anyway. I don't exactly have much to do at this very moment.
driver of the year; Donny Schatz. pretty hard to argue with this one. honorable mention; Christopher Bell, Rico Abreu
promoter of the year; Steve Sinclair. I'm totally biased. I rarely get out of WI to see a race. Occasional trip to knoxville or eldora but that's it. I think Steve does the most with the least, and the IRA had a very entertaining year with good cars/drivers/etc. they went to so new tracks, revisited some they hadn't been to in many years.
best all around track; Knoxville. who else would it be? I believe the HOF/museum puts them everybody else in the country.
driver that has done the most (this is a terribly ambiguous wording); Brian Brown. simply because I think he is the most outgoing, personable driver at the track always. I would like to hear about other drivers that are quick to help out a competitor as well. to me that really makes a driver standout.

I respect your pinion Mr. Willie , but don't agree with you , as the media people don't know any better then the loyal fans . We can be objective as well , you know even the people who are in the know can get it wrong as well , because I've seen it happen in several cases. I just think it would be good if fans were heard on different things as we are paying the admissions .

Does Brad Doty impress you as someone who might know better than the average fan? Sorry, but by percentage very few fans are going to be objective. The biggest majority of them are just going to vote for their personal favorites no matter what. Sorry if you don't agree, but that's just the reality of it.

410 driver Shatz
Can't say on the 358/360 and 305 ranks
Promoter. I would say it would have to go to one of two groups. The folks that have lifted Atomic from the dead or the Lincoln speedway folks for putting on the Kasey Kayne classic. Both were tough deals to stand up and were very successful for their first to around.

No, I would not. All that stuff is just a matter of opinion. Fan votes always become nothing but a popularity contest. Most vote for their favorite driver no matter if he has done anything to deserve an award or not.

410 Driver of the Year: Donny Schatz
Best all around track is Kokomo Speedway.
Danny Dietrich does the most for Racing from a Driver stand point with not being afraid to voice his opinion no matter the issue.
Promoter of the Year has to be the guy at Cocopah Speedway. Cant think of his name but he has created a nice Winter Series with a lot of interest and actually keeping some American Drivers in the States.

At least members of the media can capitalize, spell & punctuate.

As a FAN, I think it's a terrible idea for us to be included because there would be a % of people that don't vote for a particular driver because of their personal dislike for them (nothing to do with their actual driving).
Some "fans" wouldn't vote for a particular promotor becuase an employee at a track they promote was rude to them 20 years ago or the old "I've never been to the "insert event here", so I can't rank it in my top 5, I can only rank those I've been to, so the regular races at Podunk Raceway are promoted by Billy Bob Earnhardt, he should be promoter of the year". Industry types and media may not attend an event, but they know the signifigance of one event and how it's promoted over another (does the honor go to the promotor that came up with a $3000 to win race that 15 drivers participated in, 1500 people attended, had ZERO media coverage, and no one knew was going on, or a $10,000 to win race that 112 drivers participated in, 5000 people attended, had local, regional and non-industry media in attendance?
Never even heard of the "best all around track" award.
Contribution to the sport is a toughie, which is an even better reason for fans to not have a say. We see things way different than the media and insustry types. If it was a lifetime award, Steve Kinser would win this year (and that's more than likely how the fans would vote), but it's not, it's a YEARLY award, so it's based on the contributions THIS YEAR to help the sport grow.
