When Heather asked Joey what he thought of the weekend in Edmonton, Joey responded "I'm glad to be leaving and going to Washington". What a roar of boos followed from the fans. Absolutely amazing response!

BTW, Schatz wins by passing Saldana on lap 22 of 35.

That was probably the worst thing I've heard in a victory lane interview in a long time. People rag on Donny for whining sometimes, me included, but Joey took it to a different level tonight. I understand the guys probably ticked off losing to Schatz again, but its better for his sake that he just shuts his yap. Wouldn't be surprised if he got a few visitors to his trailer who want to discuss the matter further.

I'm not defending him in any way. I'm not a joey fan after watching him try to crash kaley gharst at the 2006 nationals, but I do think perhaps the pressure might be getting to him. A driver has to feel some pressure whether it's from within or external sources when he has what might be the best funded, most resource available (nascar technology) team and is not getting the job done. Maybe the fans need to go up to joey and give him some hugs to make him feel secure.

not defending but the crap they have to go through to get into Canada might play a part in a response like that. and without the WoO helping them pass through more quickly. Still a bad choice of words though.

If there is any pressure, it should sit square on the shoulders of the team. They should never have let Warner go and the parts he was using to make there team faster. It must burn their collective arses to look across at the 15 pit and see what they let go. Joey can only do so much.

Not only is he feeling the pressure you can hear it in his interviews. The pressure is what makes or breaks a person and along with having to perform for the owners, I can't imagine the pressure he must be feeling.

We'll just have to wait and see who will come out on top as the pressure intensifies. Cream always rises to the top.

Donny Schatz is my pick!

I remember Joey saying in an interview that Ricky Warner, as a crew chief, helped him a lot. I think Joey had more confidence as a driver when Rick Warner was with him.

With Donny Schatz being together again can with Ricky Warner, this can only increase Donny's confidence and help the team keep the pressure on for the rest of the race season.

The next couple of months should be interesting. I know that after Knoxville some of the teams let down but others teams gear up even more. Equipment begins to break, changes in the teams begin to take place, etc. So with Donny Schatz and Ricky Warner firming together the rest of the race season, this can only boost their chance for another championship in 2007. jmo

Well said LJAYNE... talk about having the ball in your posession and dropping it ... you wonder what the points would look like if Warner was still there ...

Joey is just jealous of Donny's lazy eye. Thats the secret to his success. It allows him to keep one eye ahead and the other on the rest of the field.

Are you sure he meant it as an insult? Or did he simply mean he was glad to be moving on to another race/chance. I can see how you could take that statement two ways. btw I am not a Saldana fan ..... just thought it may not be meant like it sounds.

I think that's what he meant. I hear racers say things like that all the time. They want to get out of the place and head to the next race after they lose. It didn't sound like the Canadian fans took it that way though.

I believe we're hearing the pressure Joey is under to perform coming out.

That was my first impression as well. Just glad to move on.

Sometimes its not what you say but how you say it. Whatever he meant to say, it came out the wrong way and Saldana sounded like an a$$hole to many of the folks in attendance.

I think it was just frusteration talking and not thinking about what he was saying. I don't think he meant to be rude because he seems like a nice guy who is just really hard on himself!

Looking forward to the new Golden State King of the

Obviously his response caught the interviewer by complete surprise. On the other hand ask a follow up so that maybe he could dig himself out. As for the points chase. He's right there and he's been there the whole year. This is what you want if your a Saldana fan or a Schatz fan. Imagine being a McCarl fan and to know your guy won't come close to a WoO championship. Although his wave was the best move of the year.
