Here we go with the bashing of another track. I am not bashing or defending, just offering another perspective. First of all the speedway would have been leveled years ago had the track been owned by someone else. No one wanted it and if the arguement is that they did, they could have easily bought it from the previous owner. The era of Nascar drivers buying tracks didn't exist in that time period, so the idea that someone wanted this track is funny because no one did - otherwise they would own it today. The track was for sale and the Fishers bought it and kept it going. Everyone wants major improvement, now I agree and I believe the owners would agree improvements need to be made and are being made but you can't put the cart in front of the horse, if you dump a ton of cash into something and do not have a return on investment, guess what - you go under. I believe in my opinion over time this track will continue to upgrade facilities and continue to get better just like what the Port did over years. Drivers that do not feel it is safe do not have to race there. If you feel it is unsafe you have the right not to race there - no one is forcing you to go. It looks like many sprint car drivers do not mind, they had around 60 sprint cars at the last show between 410's and 360's. There is also a big weekly draw for the practice day on Wed nights, which again is the only track in the area that offers that. You have the right in this country to go and race or support or not support any place you prefer.
Why bash a track that is least trying, there are some in the area that don't care at all. Do things need to get better, sure. However given what the track could have been and what it is today, be happy its not leveled or another picture on abandoned race track facebook page.
