DAMION GARDNER ADDS SILVER DOLLAR SPEEDWAY TO WIN LIST

CHICO, CA – SEPTEMBER 8, 2014... Taking the lead from Mike Spencer on lap sixteen, Concord’s “The Demon” Damion Gardner won the $2,750 Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Car feature at Chico’s Silver Dollar Speedway. Gardner swept the third round of the “California Sprint Week,” by setting a new track record, winning his heat race, and claiming his eighth win of the campaign. Bud Kaeding, hard charger Colby Copeland, Brody Roa, and Kevin Thomas Jr. rounded out the top-five drivers.
Racing Mark Alexander’s #4 Scott Sales Company / J&D Performance Spike, Damion Gardner earned his 59th career Woodland Auto Display Fast Time Award by shattering Jac Haudenshild’s 2011 track record. Gardner backed that up by winning the 10-lap Extreme Mufflers Heat Race #1 and the main event from the sixth starting spot.
Bud Kaeding of Campbell ran second in the 30-lap feature after starting fourth. Piloting Morrie Williams’ #0 Buster & Ziggy Enterprises / Maximum Racing Oil Maxim, Kaeding qualified fifth out of the thirty five races in the pit area and took third in his heat race.
Roseville’s Colby Copeland earned his second Keizer Wheels / Racing Optics "Hard Charger / Best Passing Job” honors with a third place run from eighteenth. Driving Annette VanLare’s #5V Bianchi Farms / VanLare Steering Repair ART, Copeland was eighteenth fast in time trials and won the 10-lap DJ Safety Heat Race #2.
Brody Roa of Huntington Beach scored fourth in USAC/CRA’s return to the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds. Racing the BR Performance #91R HD Industries / Burris Racing Maxim, Roa qualified seventh overall and placed fourth in his heat race.
Cullman, Alabama’s Kevin Thomas Jr. claimed fifth in his first appearance at Silver Dollar Speedway. Piloting Keith Ford’s #73 Berry Pack / King Racing Products Spike, Thomas was second quick in time trials and ran second to Colby Copeland in his heat race.
Scott Hall of Roseville won the night’s Saldana Racing Products / Circle Track Performance Heat Race #3. Driving his 360 powered #56K JKB Financial / Konnected Clothing Maxim, Hall qualified twenty-third overall and took sixteenth in the main event.
Fresno’s Kyler Shaw took his first USAC/CRA checkered flags by winning the Pyrotect Racing Cells / Weld Racing Heat Race #4. Racing the family owned #92K PMS Investments / Shaw Structures Unlimited KPC with 360 power, Shaw was twenty-fourth fast in time trials and placed thirteenth in the feature.
Ryan Bernal of Hollister won the 12-lap Competition Suspension Inc. / Rod End Supply Semi-Main. Piloting Mike Phulps’ #56 Tri-C Mandarin Ranch / Core Power ART, Bernal qualified tenth overall, scoffed eighth in his heat race, and scored twenty-second in the main event after an early exit.
