Just wanted to say thanks to Emmett for bringing the 410 wingless show to Creek County. Boy, that was fun. Forty-two cars and 13 sprint races for $20. I'll take that any time.
The field was full of stars -- the Kaedings, Darland (boy did he drive rough), Kunz, Jr., Droud, Jr., Kruseman and on and on. The only thing wrong with the 410 wingless shows is that they aren't also running OKC and Lawton. I would go any time they were within reasonable driving distance -- great stuff.
For the OKC fans, Danny Jennings was in the 8k car, which I believe has been on the Outlaw tour, and was collected in a flip in the first turn of his heat. It appeared they battled the car most of the night. They got him back in time to run one of the B's, but only the top three moved on. Swift and Barksdale also ran. Jamie Passmore made the A.
Trey Robb was running top five or six in the A until Darland decided he wanted the spot and put Trey in the infield.
Anyway, it was well worth the drive and the ticket price.

It was a good show and well worth the trip. For as tight as that 'bull ring' of a race track is, it's a miracle that they didn't tear up more race cars. Kenny you left out Shouse and McAlister from your list of locals.. I also saw "Slammin Sammy Swindell" in the pits with Brady Short's team. Sure would like to see them come to the City again.

Kerry and Andy ran South Coffeyville Wednesday and Creek County Thursday. Neither had very good results. Sammy was helping Damion Gardner both nights. Yes Kenny, those full time guys drive pretty rough, always have, always will.

Oh my gosh, you're right. Sorry to leave out Kerry and Andy. I was hustling to get to a work-related meeting and didn't tax this lousy memory like I should have. I will be in big trouble with one person for leaving out Kerry -- 1,000 apologies.

Ballou sure did make one heck of a Bonzi run to pass Tim Keading for the lead didnt he. I thought it wasnt going to stick. It was a good show and I thought more cars were going to get tore up by the end of the night.

Kenny, Yes I do know who you are and have seen you at the races in fact I was sitting a few feet away from you at creek, how do you say Darland was rough driving when Robb was holding a faster car up. This was a 1/4 mile track and yes I know I will be band from this board b/c I dont follow the Robb hype but Darlnad has been in USAC and running non-wing cars longer than Trey has been alive. This is more of an instance of Darland having more years of experiance than Robb has and yes if I was Robb and I got punted to the infield, to use words you would understood Kenny, I would say he had more experiance than I did and I would not be very upset about it.
Go ahead and blast me everyone b/c I am not on the Robb bandwagon but if you see me at the fairgrounds I will be wearing my Darland t-shirt.

lol. I actually agree with that assessment of the incident. Also looked to me as if Robb got a bit sideways and Darland had a run into the turn. I don't know about the bandwagon statement.......it;s another one of those situations where there was so much hype in it it was gonna be hard to deliver on that anyway. But he's a good driver thats only gonna get better as he gets older. I'm not a #1 fan, but I would like to see him do well. jmo.

The heats and qualifying races were great. The second half of the show was good.
I've never been a huge Darland fan but I picked him to win at the start of the main and he may have been in contention if he hadn't slipped off the top of one and two early on. Have to agree that I don't think he punted Robb. Darland's not rough. He just knows how to hustle a traditional sprint car.
Ballou's pass for the lead was impressive. Pretty amazing the youth movement in non-wing sprint car racing. Ballou's 18, Windom 16, Boat's around 16 not to mention guys like Stenhouse, Jr. and Hagan.
I thought Chad Boat looked really good in his heat and especially in the qualifying race. Too bad his youthful exuberance caught up with him in the main. Still though, watch out for him because he has his daddy's genes.
Matt Rossi's tumble all the way to the pit gate was almost ugly. Pretty amazing to me that the track officials were trying to get Danny Jennings' crew away from his car after he flipped in the same incident. Seems like his crew was the only bunch of people who realized he had gone over as well. "The Demon" Damian Gardner certainly got some hangtime with his dump.
All and all a really good show and well worth the money.
FYI, Kenny, it's Jerry Coons, Jr.. That's okay, I thought it was Keith Nickel. LOL.

Cat -- why didn't you introduce yourself???
Here was my read on the spin out and it's not a matter of being for or against Darland or Robb or anybody for that matter. I felt like Trey was holding his line pretty nicely through one and two. If he had been sloppy, I sure would have felt differently. The other contributor to my thinking was this -- Dave also spun out the 17 car (from Illinois, not the blue and yellow 17).
I know Darland is a stud and has a clean reputation. From my seat, it looked like he spun out a couple guys that happened to be in the space he wanted. I do understand that a sloppy slower car may get the boot, but I didn't feel that either of those guys were unreasonably sloppy. My guess is that if either of them had done the same to Darland in a similar situation he wouldn't have been very happy about it.
My dad once drove open wheelers on dirt and he loves Darland so this isn't about trying to attack anyone; just a commentary on a race. I am an admitted novice about the sport and probably too ill-informed to ever post on a message board, but I love watching (enough to drive to Sapulpa on a Thursday night in lieu of attending an OU fb practice) and enjoy the the discussion. When you can't do something yourself, you're pretty much left to just talking about it.

don't sweat it man.........you don't have to know a whole lot to have an opinion on what you see. Besides, it's a good way to get better informed is to ask questions and state your thoughts and listen to others as well. jmo.
Anyhow I can respect that opinion on the Darland deal. really its a wonder things didn;t get more messy than they did with that kind of track surface on a 1/4 mile - with non-wing 410's no less. But still.......I was probably more satisfied with the 20$ I spent at the end of the night than any other race I've seen this year - except maybe Knoxville 360 nationals. But with Devil's Bowl Winter Nationals and Short Track Nationals still to go that may change.
