Streeter brings home a pair of top 10's
By Gary Thomas
August 14, 2007...A double header weekend of action ended with a pair of top 10 finishes for Lathrop’s Matt Streeter and Orth Family Racing. Competing at both Chico and Placerville, Matt was up on the wheel, but lost a bit of ground in the John Padjen Motorsports wingless sprint standings as point leader Brandon Davis swept the weekend.
Friday night at Silver Dollar Speedway saw Matt bring home a fourth place finish in his heat race before starting in the back of the pack in the 20 lap feature. The track was very fast for the wingless feature and Matt did his best to get up to a ninth place finish aboard the M & S Racing Engines, A.R.T. Enterprise, T & T Trucking Inc No. 24.
On Saturday Matt and Orth Family Racing made the short drive to Placerville Speedway for the second night of competition. Matt scored a second place finish in the heat race and lined up in the fourth row for the main event. The high banks of Placerville are always challenging and Matt drove the Elkhorn Station Roadside Bar & Grill, Vaughn & Family, Mike German & Sons No. 24 to an eighth place finish to cap off the weekend.
As the point season winds down, Matt still finds himself second in the JPM wingless sprint car standings, but is now 31 behind leader Brandon Davis heading into this Friday’s event at Silver Dollar Speedway. Right now the Orth Family Racing team will be giving it a hard try and will look to build some momentum as one of the biggest races of the season is coming up in less than one month.
The second annual wingless sprint car invitational on Wednesday night September 5, which kicks off the Gold Cup Race of Champions week is a race that Matt and Orth Family Racing want to perform well at since it will feature one of the biggest crowds of the season as it’s part of the biggest sprint car event/week of the season in Northern California.
