BRADY BACON CLAIMS “FREEDOM TOUR” WIN AT CREEK COUNTY
By Lance Jennings

SAPULPA, OK – AUGUST 15, 2014... After finishing second the night before at Lawton, Brady Bacon of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma claimed the USAC SouthWest Sprint Car win at Creek County Speedway. Taking command from Wyatt Burks on the eighth lap, Bacon scored Thursday’s $2,500 “Freedom Tour” victory as the series heads to Wichita’s 81 Speedway. Colby Copeland, Josh Pelkey, Seth Bergman, and Casey Shuman rounded out the top-five drivers.

Starting seventh in front of his hometown fans, Brady Bacon raced his #99 Fatheadz Eyewear / Oilfield Equipment & Manufacturing XXX to his second career USAC SouthWest triumph. Earlier in the night, Bacon won the second 10-lap heat race and ranked seventh in passing points. To date, the versatile driver has one semi-main win, one hard charger award, six top-10 finishes, and 57 feature laps led to his credit.

Roseville, California’s Colby Copeland ran second at Creek County Speedway. Piloting Ted Williams’ #74 Bandit Racing / Marks Bolts Maxim, Copeland won the third 10-lap heat race and was seated third in passing points. Heading to Wichita, Colby has one feature win, four heat race victories, one hard charger award, five top-10 finishes, and 30 feature laps led on the season.

Josh Pelkey of Peoria, Arizona charged from tenth to score third in the 30-lap feature. Driving Robbie & Gaye Allen’s #12 ABC Body Shop / Napa Auto Parts Maxim, Pelkey was third in his heat race and placed tenth in passing points. The former ASCA Champion has three feature wins, three heat race victories, two hard charger awards, twenty top-10 finishes, and 54 feature laps led in the campaign.

Snohomish, Washington’s Seth Bergman earned the night’s “Hard Charger / Best Passing Job” honors with a fourth place run from sixteenth. Racing the #2 Oilfield Equipment & Manufacturing / SpeedMart entry, Bergman was seventh in his heat race and won the program’s second 12-lap semi-main. After another rare non-wing start, Seth has two semi-main wins and one top-10 finish.

Casey Shuman of Rattlesnake Bend, Arizona roared to fifth at Sapulpa from fifteenth. Piloting John James’ #4J Top Row Rowdies machine, Shuman placed sixth in his heat race and won the first 12-lap semi-main. In limited starts, Casey has one heat race win, one hard charger award, and six top-10 finishes on the year.

Las Cruces, New Mexico’s “The Real Deal” Rick Ziehl was the high point driver out of thirty-two racers. Driving Gary Williams’ #41W EKR Heating & Cooling / Bandit Racing Maxim, Ziehl ran second to Brady Bacon in his heat race and placed seventh in his heat race.

Wyatt Burks of Topeka, Kansas won the night’s first 10-lap heat race. Racing the family owned #11W Industrial Maintenance Inc. / Bindery Express entry, Burks was sixth in passing points and led the first seven laps before taking eighth at the checkered flags.

Phoenix, Arizona’s Shon Deskins took his #20 MP Environmental / Spike Chassis car to victory in the fourth 10-lap heat race.
