_Vintage Hot Rod and Pro Machine Racing Engines Night at Silver Dollar Speedway_
Four divisions of race cars will compete at the next to last Feather Falls Casino point championship series night this Friday, August 17. Action is coming to a close with just one more night of racing to follow. September is gearing up to be the best Gold Cup in years with the World of Outlaws returning to Silver Dollar Speedway in full force.
However, on the home front the local drivers know that there is just two more nights of racing to move up the championship final point ladder.
Dave Davidson and John Beck have strong ties with the Silver Dollar Speedway this season. Davidson owns Vintage Hot Rod Design and Fabrication and shares the building with John Beck of Pro Machine Racing Engines. The building is located at 631 Country Drive in Chico and the sign is visible from HWY 99 as you are entering Chico. There will be t-shirts tossed into the stands and other activities that you will not want to miss. The pair have moved up from Southern California and fell in love with the Chico community. They offer a fabrication shop, paint shop and DYNO room not only for hot rods but every day vehicles also. “Racing in America is about people having fun,” said John Beck. “We will just be getting back from the Salt Flats on Thursday trying to break land speed records and then on Friday we will be at the dirt oval track helping Zack Mason with his sprint car. Racing is racing and I love it all.”
Four divisions will highlight the racing night. The 410 sprints, dirt modifieds, pure stocks and wingless sprints will all compete. The 410 sprints will once again pay $2,000 to win.
The front grandstand gate will open at 6 pm. Racing is slated to start at 7:30. Adult price is $10.00. Junior and Senior prices are $8.00. Children are $4.00.
Beck has stepped in and become sprint car driver Zack Mason's motor man this season. With the DYNO at his shop Beck is able to get just the right amount of horsepower for Mason to compete with at Silver Dollar Speedway. “Zack is a heck of a driver without a big budget,” said Beck. “He only has one motor to last all year so with our help we can give Zack's motor the right type of output but also not pushing the limits too far so it blows up. If it blows up then he won't be racing because these motors are a lot of money to fix. I think that is where the balance him and I are at and so far this year it has worked.”
Vintage Hot Rod Design and Fabrication opened early spring 2003. The shop is the brainchild of Dave Davidson. Dave has been involved in the building of cars for many years. Dave had visions of his shop being both appealing to the serious hot rod enthusiast as well as the general public. The 13,000 square foot shop and show room take you back to the 50's with the look of nostalgia. Inside the show room you will find classic autos, antiques, memorabilia and various hot rod related merchandise. Come in and check out the shop and friendly staff! It's getting down to crunch time for individual point battles. Chico's Stephen Allard is a lock right now to win his second track championship unless something collapses with his team or car. He holds a 45-point lead over Sean Becker. Chico's Richard Papenhausen holds a 45-point lead over Darin Ruley in the battle of the dirt modifieds. Rookie driver Brandon Davis is leading Matt Streeter by 31-points in the wingless division. The closest battle is in the pure stock division where Jeff Olschowka leads Heather Bartlett by 22-points.

Who will be there in a 410 this weekend?
Decaires? Statler? What happend to Trevor Green? Is Kyle Hirst going to be back? How about Colby Wiesz, and one of my favorite young talents Even Suggs. That young kid put on a heck of a show during the first night of the Dirt Cup. Johnny Gray was a no show last week, what about this week. And the 67 of Shane Mathews, anyone know when he might return? And the young talent of 15 year old Kyle Larson will he be back this week? Looking forward to a few of these answered anyways. See ya at the races!

Statler will be in Watsonville Friday.
Trevor Green is done in Cali for this year I believe.
Evan Suggs should be there. I think they were planning on running the whole month. He's done a great job the first couple point races in August, just has had no luck what so ever.
Johnny Gray was back last Friday after missing the previous week.
Should be a good show no matter who shows up.
