This forecast is not looking good, lets just hope they are typical metorologists and wrong.

Forecast definitely leaves a lot to be desired. I'm curious to see how they make-up the races and how it will affect our Friday and Saturday tickets. hopefully they don't have to do a Sunday show, because We can't stay.

in 87 they ran Wednesday night @ 10:00 AM Saturday, Thursday Night @ 3:00 PM Saturday and Saturday Night @ midnight Saturday/Sunday and then ran a 1 night show for everyone EXCEPT A-main qualifiers on Sunday night.

A few years ago they ran Thursday Night on Thursday, Wednesday Night on Friday Night and Friday at noon on Saturday and then the finale @ 8:00 PM Saturday night.

They always get all the shows ran and do their best to do them all before Saturday's show.  Only times I can remember on Sunday were 87 (monsoon season that week), 97 (rained after D main on Saturday Night) and 2009 (rain on Saturday Night).

Another reason I am glad that I am not a promoter.   When I show up Friday night, I am expecting to be able to watch a race.   I don't want to hear any nonsense that the Friday night race is actually being held on Satuday afternoon, and that only people with tickets to the Thursday race can attend the race on Friday night.

Like I said, I am glad that I am not the promoter.  Hopefully, things will work out and a solution for everyones problems will be evident.

Here is an interesting question.  Let's say that it rains and the track wouldn't be ready until 2 am.  Would you rather they reschedule the race to a day show the next day, or stick it out with a 2 am show?

I personally would vote for the 2 am, but I also don't have a problem staying up late.  I think a late night might produce a better track than during the day??? But I'm no expert.  Just curious what others would say?

Preference for 2am shows would be proportionate to how many little kids or elderly friends/relatives a fan has in tow.  For those prone to barley pops it might be a challenge to stay cognizant until 2am.  Neighbors, especially those on night shift, might not appreciate the noise.  I don't think 2am shows in the middle of town are ever a good idea.

On the flip side a couple of locked down daytime qualifiers could produce a very different looking A Main.

It looks to me like Tuesday night will be their worse weather with conditions improving through Friday.  Thursday and or Friday nights could be marathon sessions.  I don't think there's a problem racing past midnight in those circumstances but starting at that hour is a different matter.

Question, does Knoxville have a curfew?  Does the track simply pay the fine in these instances or are they able to get it waived for the Nationals if there is one in place?

I do not believe that Knoxville has a curfew, especially during the Nationals, I remember a few years ago when they were pushing off heats somewhere around midnight-1:00am, but it wasn't after the 1-3 inches that are scheduled to fall shortly...hopefully everyone is wrong or at the least over predicting!

While I am keeping up hope that we will get every night in on it's scheduled night, I would hate to see any positions in the Saturday feature determined by a afternoon show.  It always dries out and becomes follow the leader in the afternoon shows.

Doesn't look good but we'll get what we get. A few years ago the forecast on Monday was for dry, sunshine and lollipops all week....then it rained for 3 straight days. Never know. Let's have some fun this week!!!

And buy those 50/50 tickets!!!!!!!!!!

Hate to be Debbie Downer, but this is one of the worst forecasts I can remember for a Nationals since I started coming 20y ago.  About the only thing worse would be snow and I wouldn't be shocked if we saw that added to the picture, too.

I would be shocked if we race tonight.  Usually when forecasters are this certain of rain, we get it.  Let's hope for a small miracle for Thursday and plentiful sunshine Friday & Saturday because we have some day racing in our future.

Is this heaven?
No, it's Iowa....Knoxville, Iowa.

There's a small window early evening tonight - not sure what the track conditions are right now but if they get past 9 p.m. they're going to be SOL. Should be doing everything possible to get started early and get tonight in IMO. At 25% or below 9 p.m., at 9 it goes to 50% and then is 50%+ for the next 16 hours.

One thing about the groundskeepers in Knoxville is that they do everything to stack the odds in their favor.   There should be some major activity on the track right now prepping for tonight....is there somebody in the museum or near the a gate that can tell us what they are up to?
