Wow, TBJ beat 58 Chevys in a single heat race?   Wow, that must've been one helluva heat race!   Would like to have seen that....

Oops.  It was actually only 57.  My mistake.

Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

According to you minthess...it doesn't really matter what engine TBJ has, apparently he can't setup his "chassis" and that is why he is getting beat.  What's the point in running a Ford in the first place then?  Do heat races pay more than features at the Cappy Classic?

do it in the dirt

Technically, Madsen passed TBJ in the heat for the lead, then TBJ passed him back, then Madsen passed him again, and TBJ passed him back again to win the heat.  Great race.  Madsen did look very tight though as his car was bouncing all over the place and he could not hold the bottom line.  I assume that's why TBJ won that heat.

Seems Madsen had a better setup come feature time.

Only as much as the deballing rule book allows.  The best Ford design that dominates dirt late model racing that is way different than a sbc is illegal in sprint car racing.  TBJ's Ford is still like reinventing the wheel when you look at the ocean of average clones its competing against.

I sure don't read anything in the Knoxville Rulebook that says "only chevy allowed".

straight from their rulebook:

ENGINE RULES-

Only small block V-8 engines with the cam in the block and a maximum of 410.00 cubic inches of displacement (tolerance +/- 0.000) will be permitted. The formula 6.2932 x bore² x stroke will apply. Big block engines will not be permitted. The engine must be mounted in-line with the driver and the drive-line must pass beneath the driver on center through the driver compartment. Offset engines and/or offsetting the position of the engine will not be permitted. The engine block and cylinders must be machined from cast aluminum. Billet machined blocks and/or cylinder heads will not be permitted. Engines with the magneto and/or 3

distributor in a forward mounted and/or front mounted position must be approved prior to competition. Only normally aspirated engines will be permitted. Turbo chargers, super chargers and/or forced induction of any type and/or description will not be permitted. The maximum engine cylinder bore size shall be 4.165. All engine cylinder sleeves (inserts) must be machined from an iron and/or steel alloy. Titanium crankshafts, connecting rods and/or rod caps will not be permitted. Two (2) valves and one (1) spark plug will be permitted per cylinder. Cylinder heads must retain a traditional valve pattern. Rotation of the valves will not be permitted. Cantered or splayed valve cylinder heads must be approved prior to introduction into competition. Only steel connecting rods with a maximum length of 6.000 inches will be permitted. All oil pans must have an inspection plug. The inspection plug must be a #12AN fitting or 1.00" pipe plug. In the event that an engine does not have an inspection plug the oil pan must be removed for inspection prior to competition. Only throttle plate (butterfly) and shaft throttle body styles with round circular bores will be permitted. The maximum throttle bore as measured at the throttle plate (butterfly) may not exceed 3.000 inches in diameter. Slide plate, rotary cylinder, and/or other styles must be approved prior to competition. Carbon Fiber manifolds and/or any other injection type pieces manufactured from carbon fiber will not be permitted. (Does not include stacks). Only 16 fuel nozzles, utilizing two (2) per cylinder will be permitted. One (1) nozzle must be placed in the cylinder head and one (1) nozzle must be placed in the injector. A minimum of two (2) throttle return springs must be used to mechanically return the throttle to a fully closed position. Only magneto-type ignitions will be permitted. A single crank-trigger type system will be permitted as a backup ignition system. One (1) switch that alternates the current between the magneto and the crank trigger may be mounted to the dashboard within the driver’s reach. Multiple coil-pack ignitions will not be permitted. Steel and stainless steel headers will be permitted. Titanium headers will not be permitted.

Engines with cubic inch size up to 437 cu. in. will be allowed providing the following specifications are in place: 4.165" maximum Bore, 4.00" maximum stroke, 15 degree minimum valve to deck angle, 3.750" maximum intake face height from deck to valve cover rail

, 2 5/8" maximum injector stack diameter for at least 4 inches of the stack length for engines under 430.000 cu. in. 2 ½" maximum for engines over 430.000 cu. in. 1 7/8 "maximum header size from head to collector.

-12 Brodix heads are considered to be 15 degrees unless severely altered. (+ or - 1degree from 15 degree valve angle) 16, 18 and 23 degree heads are acceptable. Please contact us with any questions before building or purchasing these engines. These engines are not legal for World of Outlaw shows or the Knoxville Nationals.

LS engines: LS Engine

rules are provided in a separate package of rules available from approved engine builders. Approved LS engines are legal for the Knoxville Nationals.

In the event that there are new engine components and/or a new engine configuration they must be submitted for approval to Knoxville Raceway prior to being introduced into competition

Cool thanks.  Perhaps Knoxville isn't on the same drugs as WoO.  The WoO girls don't allow any of the heads that have dominated midget, dirt champ car and super dirt late model racing in recent years or the heads that only Karl Kinser could beat 20 years ago.  Their story of the greatest show on dirt is only true if its stuff on a VHS tape.
