ParkerStore Driver Kyle Larson Repeats With 14th Place Finish At Calistoga
Moves to Seventh in Civil War Points

Calistoga, CA  August 11, 2007.  Kyle Larson and the Dave and Debbie Vertullo racing team made their second and final appearance of the season at the scenic Calistoga Speedway half mile Saturday night as the California Civil War for 360 sprint cars held round number 11 of the 15 race series.  In a performance that was virtually a repeat from Larson’s first Calistoga visit in June, the victor in last weeks Civil War event at Placerville Speedway scored a 14th place finish in the 22 car feature event.

Maintaining the repeat theme, Larson once again slightly missed the heat race lineup inversion by qualifying 27th of the 39 cars assembled along the infield pit row.  Once again he turned a seventh place start in his heat race into a fast closing fifth, coming up just short of a feature transfer. The impressive run in the heat that included Brent Kaeding, Jason Statler, and Colby Weisz gave the youngster added confidence heading into the B-main.  There, he started 11th and was quickly moving forward, finally settling into fifth where he would take the lap 12 checkered.

Larson’s ParkerStore/CRV Racing Products/Eagle Kistler mount started the feature event in 21st  and steadily began to advance as the first 18 laps were run non stop on the tire chewing adobe clay surface.  After the checkered flag fell at lap 25 for winner Jimmy Trulli, Larson crossed the stripe with his second 14th place finish in as many tries at the historic Napa County Fairgrounds racetrack.  The drive moved the Elk Grove, California high school sophomore into seventh in the Civil War series point chase.

“I love running this place,” said Larson.  “Like a lot of the tracks I’ve raced at, I just need to get my qualifying down better.  Once the racing gets going, I seem to figure it out.  This place really suits  my style though, because I’ve always liked the bigger faster tracks, even in the outlaw karts, where momentum is needed to make passes.  I know my car owner, Dave Vertullo, is probably glad we don’t have any more races here this year with the tire bill he has, but I really wish we had a few more here.  I like this place.”

Larson’s racing efforts are sponsored by ParkerStore, CRV Racing Products, Starr Real Estate and Property Management, Safety Solutions – LFT Technologies, D & J Towing, Heritage Drywall, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, RPM Indoor Kart Racing and Conference Center, Platinum Powdercoating, JW Web Design, Wion’s Body Shop, SWEPCO Lubricants and Sierra Tire and Wheel.
