Orange Show recently started running skid plate races and it has been a ton of fun. I had never raced there until now - the typical venue for the skid plate races has been Irwindale. Orange Show is a smaller track with a more varied track surface - also the walls are a lot closer . . . like much much closer!
My first race here was tricky because I was not able to practice or qualify - my first time driving on this track was during the race. This time I got to practice and figure out some tricks with the track.
The race began well - I started in 2nd and quickly made my way to 1st. I got slowed down avoiding a crash and fell to 4th. I made my way back to 3rd and stayed there, fighting for 2nd until lap 9. I got impatient, made a stupid move to pass a lapped car and became very well acquainted with the wall . . . After that, something was wrong with the steering rack and the car was virtually drivable. I eventually finished in 9th - a good lesson to be patient.
