INDIANA SPRINT WEEK TO CONCLUDE AT TRI-STATE ON JULY 19TH
USAC DRIVERS TO COMPETE FOR $5,000 TO WIN & THE CHAMPIONSHIP

Haubstadt, IN - July 15, 2014 - Indiana Sprint Week for 2014 is
already underway. The series of seven races over a nine day span has
continued to attract race fans who enjoy the outstanding dirt track
racing that is presented night after night. Three Hoosier Speedways
have already taken a turn at hosting the United States Auto Club
Sprint Cars as the introductory weekend concluded Sunday night.
Tri-State Speedway will host the series finale this coming Saturday
night July 19th. The Indiana Sprint Week Champion will be crowned
after the feature that night. The feature winner will receive a
check for $5,000.
Three other Hoosier dirt tracks are set to host USAC-ISW Races during
this week. The first of the four remaining races is on Wednesday
night at the Terre Haute Action Track followed by events the next two
days at Lincoln Park Speedway and Bloomington Speedway. Then
Saturday the action moves to Tri-State Speedway with hot laps and
qualifications beginning at 6:30 and racing starting at 7:30 C.D.T.
The fastest laps for non-wing sprints are usually at or near the 13
second mark around the quarter mile oval.
The USAC Sprints have made one appearance at Tri-State Speedway this
season. That show was a USAC-MSCS co-sanctioned event. The winner
was Daron Clayton over closest rivals Brady Bacon and Jon Stanbrough.
Stanbrough won the last ISW feature held at Haubstadt which was
during the 2012 season. Rain fell last year!
Jon Stanbrough won the opening night’s feature at Gas City for this
year’s Indiana Speed Week. Dave Darland was the winner the next
night at Kokomo. Justin Grant was second both nights and Chris
Windom finished third both nights. The third night’s race at
Lawrenceburg was rained out during the heat races. Chase Stockon set
fast time that night. Car counts have been in the forties and
fifties!
Both the 2014 USAC season championship and the Indiana Sprint Week
title are affected by the outcome of each night’s racing. Brady
Bacon leads the USAC season standings while Dave Darland leads in
sprint week points. This could change several times before
Saturday’s finale. Fans can check usacracing.com for updates each
day. Heading into the second half of the week, point margins are as
close as 2 or 3 points!
Former Sprint Week Champions who are active these days on the circuit
include Brian Clauson, Chris Windom, Jon Stanbrough, and Dave Darland.
Clauson and Windom took the titles in 2013 and 2011 respectively.
Stanbrough has won the title twice, the last one coming in 2010.
Darland has been the Indiana Sprint Week titleholder three times with
2007 being the year of his most recent title.
The UMP Open Wheel Modifieds will also be participating in this
program. Five modified features have produced 4 different winners
this season. Levi Kissinger had back to back wins in May. Zack Fair
is the only driver to post a top five finish each night and that
included one win. Other feature winners include Tyler Nicely and
Jacob Poel.
Reserve seating is available for events at Tri-State Speedway. Fans
can call 812-768-5995 to order reserved tickets. Parking and seating
are available on both sides of the track for your convenience. The
track is located on U.S. Highway 41 at Haubstadt, IN.
