Ask most racers and they will tell you that memorial races are more satisfying and prestigious to win than most races and that preserving the history of our sport and paying honor to the legends that have made sprint car racing what it is today and means more than the prize money check. Despite this to have the best racers on track it costs thousands of dollars per night for to teams to operate. The old saying that the racing community bands together is so very true. On behalf of the Richert family we are excited to announce that long time sponsor of the Jerry Richert Memorial WoodCo Prefinishing has generously donated $6,000.00 to this year’s Memorial. This is the largest amount we have ever received from a single company in the history of the memorial and will be added to the JR Memorial purse in addition to our long list of sponsors from years past.
WoodCo. Prefinishing in Blaine, MN provides prefinishing interior millwork products such as doors, trim, stair parts, etc. Customers include door manufactures, millwork companies, lumber companies and large developers. Finished product can be seen in many sectors of the construction industry such as residential, multi family, commercial, hotel/resort, retail/entertainment, and governmental/educational. With a history and passion for 410 sprint car racing the Wood Brothers have not only become a valuable addition to the Jerry Richert Memorial but have become trusted friends of the Richert/ Tatnell families.
The Richert family and friends generated over $10,000.00 in bonus money last year and are hoping to surpass that mark this year. The JR Memorial is sanctioned by Steve Sinclair 410 IRA Sprint Car Series and the race is promoted by Cedar Lake Speedway not the Richert family and all bonus money that is generated and donated to the Memorial race by the Richert Family and friends goes directly into the prize money purse to support the racers that are paying honor to the “Golden Rim Rider Jerry Richert” .
The JR Memorial has become the largest paying race in IRA history and the most prestigious race on their calendar and will be held at Cedar Lake Speedway on Saturday night September 6th, 2014 joining the 410 sprint cars will be the UMSS 360 sprint cars.
If anyone would like to help sponsor or donate to the memorial they can contact Amy Tatnell on facebook or email [email protected] In the past we have had people donate lap money or pay extra for a select finishing position in honor of their favorite racers number or favorite number.
