COURTNEY PERFECT AT FARMER CITY’S FIRST MSCS SHOW

Farmer City, IL - June 6, 2014. Tyler Courtney of Indianapolis, IN,
won the Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car feature held Friday night at
the ¼ mile Farmer City Raceway. The victory capped an exciting
evening of firsts! It was the first appearance for the series at
this track. In winning the 25 lap main event, Courtney posted his
first MSCS feature victory. Also it was the first 410 non-wing
sprint victory for the young man and it came early in his second year
of piloting a sprint car.

Courtney was driving for Illinois car owner Rick Pollock. His Maxim
sprinter is sponsored by Bates Commodities. Courtney had a perfect
night as he also won the first heat race. He started fourth in the
feature race and took the lead on lap ten. He handled overtaking the
lapped traffic well and maintained a lead until the checkers flew.

Brandon Mattox finished second in the main. He lead the first nine
laps after starting on the pole. Brent Beauchamp finished third.
Kyle Cummins was the next to cross the finish line. The former MSCS
Champion capitalized on an opportunity and took over the 2014 Points
lead. Cummins was followed by Bret Tripplett. All four drivers were
in the middle of a continuous three or four car battle to gain a
higher top five finish. Tripplett had won the other heat race.

Carson Short, Bradley Sterrett, Mitch Wissmiller, Chad Davenport, and
Keaton Dobbs rounded out the top ten. Aaron Farney was 11th and thus
the recipient of the Wilwood Tuff Brakes Award. Dobbs was the Keizer
Aluminum Wheels Hard Charger of the Race in gaining 8 spots in the
twenty car field. Cars formed several competitive packs that
provided action at every turn. There were only three caution flags
to slow the proceedings.

The Farmer City event was the seventh on this season’s MSCS schedule.
The event drew an equal number of Indiana & Illinois based sprint
car racing teams. Four drivers in competition were completely new to
the series! MSCS will return to the Prairie State on July 5th for a
Saturday night appearance at Clay County Speedway in Flora, IL.

MSCS will be idle one weekend and then set to race once each of the
next 3 weekends. The Southern Indiana Sprint Stampede is the next
event scheduled. The MOWA Winged Sprint Cars and the MSCS Sprints
will both be on the racing card at Tri-State Speedway on June 21st.
Then on the 28th MSCS will share the spotlight with the POWRi Midgets
and Micro Sprints. These programs have the key ingredients open
wheel fans seek - lots of action!
