Not disagreeing at all that $70K race cars -- and (multiple) driver safety -- shouldn't be considered, but... how would you police what was going on with crews attending to 15 or more race cars during a red? (Don't you just love ambiguity? And I expect =this= issue has come up once or twice since Barney Oldfield and Eddie Rickenbaker were driving at the Ascot out there on Slauson Avenue.) (Sigh.)

raj, Up until the last couple years we had open reds and you could do anything on your car except change a tire or anything where you needed to jack up the car,so there's really nothing to police and the officals never had any problems keeping an eye on things. And trust me if you thought you could sneak in a tire change, someone from another team would see you doing so and go get an offical and you're busted. So we pretty much policed our selves when it came to a situation where someone used a jack or changed a tire.
