BLAND SCORES BIG WITH WIN AT LINCOLN PARK SPEEDWAY

Putnamville, IN - May 24, 2014 - Jeff Bland Jr. won one exciting
Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car Series feature Saturday night at the
Lincoln Park Speedway. The Springville, IN, driver was piloting the
Jerry Burton owned DRC, Foxco powered sprint car. The 30 lap feature
lived up to its’ promise and became a Saturday night shootout. It
also paid $2,500 to win!

Jeff Bland Jr. started alongside Jon Stanbrough on the front row and
the two battled wheel to wheel. Bland had his eye on the top and the
extra speed it promised. After he found a productive higher line
around the oval, other drivers began testing the top and the tricky
cushion in turn four. Cars got loose and drivers collected them
back, but not always in time to retain their positions.

Jon Stanbrough who was credited with leading 15 laps fell back to
fifth in the battle up front. Brady Short showed his mastery at LPS
by ascending to the second spot and becoming Burton’s final
challenger. Kyle Cummins split through traffic to take third. Kyle
moved up 13 positions to become the Keizer Aluminum Wheels Hard
Charger of the Race. Eighteen year old Carson Short hung in there
with the faster pack in taking a top four finish.

2013 MSCS Rookie of the Year Bradley Sterrett headed a talented
second five at the completion of the feature. Robert Ballou was
seventh followed by Chase Stockon. Brian Hayden and Dickie Gaines
rounded out the top five.

Two B Mains were held because there were 39 MSCS drivers present.
Twenty three drivers were looking to earn the final four transfers
into the feature. Brent Beauchamp and Max McGhee won those two 12
lap skirmishes.

Heat race action caused three cars to be scratched from the B. The
sprint driven by Mike Terry Jr. was damaged in a first heat crash in
which Brandon Mattox’s car turned over. The accident also sent Dave
Darland to the pit area with a damaged ride. Rookie Nick Hale flipped
in the same heat race in a separate incident at the top of turn
three. Levi Shields was injured during a wild flip on the back
straightaway in the second heat.

Brandon Mattox was able to have his car repaired in time for the B
and running well enough to take the opportunity that a provisional
offered for the A. In the feature he was able to move up 9 spots to
finish 12th. Dave Darland earned a spot for the A by finishing an
unbelievable second in the B with a car that had lost a wheel with a
lap to complete before crossing the finish line. Darland received
the Wilwood Tuff Brakes Award for an eleventh place finish in the
feature.

The heat race winners included Carson Short, Brady Short, and Jeff
Bland Jr. The series moved on for a Sunday night match-up with the
KISS Series at Tri-State Speedway. Jon Stanbrough continued on into
the weekend as the MSCS points leader.
Brady Short and Kyle Cummins moved up to second and third in points.
