Streeter closes in on point lead with 3rd place finish

By Gary Thomas

Chico, CA - August 7, 2007... Using a charge from 12th to 3rd during the feature Friday night in Chico, Lathrop’s Matt Streeter has moved to within just 14 points of leader Brandon Davis in the John Padjen Motorsports wingless sprint series.

Matt and the Orth Family Racing team have remained tough and have bounced back strong to get back into the points chase with just a handful of events remaining. This past Friday night in Chico saw the former BCRA Midget champ charge from dead last to finish second in his heat race aboard the A.R.T. Enterprise, M & S Racing Engines, Elkhorn Station Roadside Bar & Grill No. 24.

Lining up in row six of the 20 lap main event, Matt was up on the wheel as the Silver Dollar Speedway clay remained tacky and hooked up all night. He charged forward throughout the race and got around a few cars during the last two laps and brought the T & T Trucking Inc, Mike German & Sons, Vaughn & Family machine home in third place.

The strong run, coupled with point leader Brandon Davis finishing 14th, has helped Matt and Orth Family Racing close back in on the point lead. Just a couple weekend’s back it looked like the title would be out of our grasp, but the team has been working hard and Matt has been driving his tail off. This coming weekend will be a double header of action beginning with another race in Chico on Friday and then a trip to Placerville on Saturday. Matt has performed very well at Placerville this year and a strong run on Saturday night will be very important as the championship race is getting down to the wire.
