DAVIS GRABS "MOTHER'S DAY" RACE AT QUEEN CREEK
Next up for the USAC Southwest Sprint cars is the annual "Salute to Indy" at Canyon Speedway Park in Peoria, Ariz. May 24-25.
Charles Davis Jr. of Buckeye, Ariz. will take a five-point lead over Josh Pelkey into the back-to-back Peoria events following his victory in last Saturday night's "Mother's Day" race at Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek.
Davis returned to the head of the all-time victory list for USAC drivers in Arizona with his 13th feature win Saturday night at Queen Creek. Driving the RSS Industries/Rod End Supply RSS/Don Ott, he passed Andy Reinbold on lap 26 and led the final five laps to beat Reinbold, Josh Pelkey, R.J. Johnson and Matt Rossi to win.
