Does not speak well for a series that wants to consider itself a "major player" in sprint car racing.

Man I hope they get this figured out its a damn good series to watch for the money, and the talent is great. I think this has been an issue in the past, I really hope for the best!

The All Stars have gone down the hill since Webb has owned it.  Bert was the man!  You never had to worry about your $, heck you had your tow money before hotlaps.  He used to come by and hand it to me and tell me it was between us and not to tell my pops.  Rick Nichols was awesome as well, Jimmy Darley too.  You know what, the whole time we were running with them, mid-90's, was a great time in the sport and the All Stars were major players.  Now it seems not so much.

According to Webb, they are only running on 65% sponsorship.

Well if they kept their website updated, and promoted themselves on social media like the WoO, I wouldn't see them having much issue getting more sponsors on board. They make little effort to do so. I love the series and the payout, but maybe it is time for a change at the top.

It's a shame they are at only 65 percent sponsorship, if that is true. But good business tells you not to over-extend yourself and, as Heffner said, live above your means.

The most telling thing to me is this quote from Guy Webb.

According to Webb, the group didn't adjust its point structure after losing the Goodyear deal and others. There are also some associate sponsors that have fallen on tough times and are on a payment plan.

“Our point funds are sponsorship driven,” Webb said. “Some of our sponsors have fallen on tough times, and we are working with them.

“We are in a situation and reacting to it. They are good people that have been with us for 12 to 15 years. There were six to seven that we didn't know weren't coming back.

How do you as a business that relies on sponsors "not know" that six or seven weren't coming back?  That tells me you don't have a relationship with them, you just wait for their check to arrive in the mail.  Terrible business management....

And if the team in question still supports the series, this is much ado about nothing.

Unfortunately I think the team's hand is forced. You've already invested in the money - the only way to try to make the money back is to put the car on the track.

I'm surprised the ASCoC has lasted this long with Webb at the helm. Really, really surprised.

Heffner's reason for continuing to run with the circuit in the east is reasonable. He has had professional drivers and the purses at these individual races are good. Plus, there has never been a problem getting paid after the race. It's damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Roger that.

Two things came to mind when I read this:

1. Mike Heffner should buy the series and run it the way he sees fit - or not run their races

2. Gators has an axe to gring with Guy Webb

Huh? I'd like to hear the logic behind the second point.

If you say there is series point money, then you pay out series point money. It's a pretty simple concept.

I don't know how you could say this isn't anyone but Guy Webb's fault. Christ, it's like the second coming of Katich.

Go back and read some of the early articles.  It seems to me, he enjoys the pot shots at the All Star series and Guy Webb.  If the series is so bad to run with, for whatever reason - don't run with them.  If someone is ripping me off, I don't give them multiple opportunities to do it!

How would the Heffner team not racing in the series help this situation? I think Heffner's continued support of the series despite the hassle of waiting for HIS money, shows his willingness to work with the series. The Allstars need every car they can get just like every other sanctioning body. I can only imagine the bashing the team would take if they boycotted the series based on slow payment. Heffner is doing his part, now the Allstars need to do the same.

The All-Stars haven't been the same since Bert & Brigget Emick owned the series.Guy has never paid Bert in full either.Guy doesnt care about his drivers like Bert and Brigget did.All he cares about is himself.I am very surprised this series is still going.Half the time they only bring a hand full of cars. When Bert had the series I know in 2000 the series carried  15 to 17 regular cars everywhere they went.As Bert would say the boys are back in town.Guy Webb is a shadey fellow so just becareful you dont end up like Mike, because Mike wont be the last one to feel the sensation!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let me put something to rest before it even gets started. I have no axe to grind. This is a news story. It can't all be peaches and cream. You can't just pick through and write about the positive. Every now and then, there is going to be something controversial or negative to report.

Heffner continues to run their races because he doesn't have problems getting paid after the race, it's only the point fund.  So when they come to tracks around here, and he is racing for points, he just doesn't race for points, and not only sits out that weekend but doesn't race for the point find he will actually get paid for right here at home?  Same reason Jason Sides stills ran the outlaw tour when WRG owed him money.  The 65% sponsorship came out of Webbs mouth so I'm assuming it's true, or he's trying to find ways to cover his ass.

why should a reporter lower his standards and become a cheerleader to cover upa situation that is clearly NOT helping the sport?

Is the standard for cheerleaders is so low these days that not only are they as stupid as their reputation suggests, they now expect others to nod and join right in?
