Brett Miller scores 4th in Chico

By Gary Thomas

Chico, CA - August 5, 2007... As the final month of 410 point racing at Silver Dollar Speedway got underway this past Friday, Chico’s Brett Miller put together one of his most solid night’s of racing in recent weeks. Just six days after finishing out the Golden State Challenge Series season, the Catfish and the Care Free Pools team were back in Chico looking to have a strong run at our home track.

The event in Chico marked the start of the final four races in the Feather Falls Casino Series for 2007 and during the month of August Brett is looking to build some momentum towards the Gold Cup Race of Champions, which is coming up in early September. Momentum is always a big thing heading into large events and the youngster certainly showed that he’s going to be a force over the next month at Silver Dollar Speedway.

Qualifying has been a bit of a struggle recently for Brett and the team, but it was all put behind on Friday as the Catfish cut a pair of great laps to place the Care Free Pools, Platinum Powder Coating, Wolfe Electric No. 1x second quickest in the 27 car field. Starting sixth in the second heat race of the night, Brett made quick work to get into a transfer spot and brought home a fourth place finish aboard the JP’s Paint & Body, Care Free Custom Graphics, Smartwebsales.com, Al’s Concrete Maxim.

With fast qualifier Stephen Allard pulling the number eight pill, it put Brett on the inside of row four in the 25 lap feature. The track surface was fast all night and remained hooked up and haulin’ during the main event. Brett got himself up to the top five when the laps ticked down and used a late race restart to put the pressure on the cars in front of him. The 18 year-old had found the high line and on the restart he powered around Robby Whitchurch to take fourth and closed in on fellow youngster Mason Moore for third. Just as Brett was getting to the outside of Moore on the final lap the yellow light’s came on and forced a green/white/checkered restart. The last couple circuits were clicked off smoothly and Brett brought the Jandy Pools, Aspire Homes, BR Motorsports No. 1x home with a fourth place finish.

It was great night and a definite confidence builder for Brett and the whole team. The solid qualifying time was a real bright spot and Brett looked comfortable all night as the crew put a great car underneath him.

Next up for Care Free Pools Racing will be this coming Friday night at Silver Dollar Speedway for the third to last point race of the season. For more news and info on Brett Miller visit http://www.brettmillerracing.net
