EAGLE, NE (August 4, 2007) - Lincoln, NE sprint car driver Jay Jordan suffered multiple injuries after a heat race crash Saturday night, August 4. While racing Adam Gullion, contact was made on the backstretch, sending Jordan tumbling in turn three along the outside guardrail. The car came to a stop in the bottom of turn three with Jordan momentarily unconscious and the motor still at full throttle.
Jordan was transfered to a Lincoln hospital and was in surgery until 3:30 Sunday morning. His list of injuries include: shattered ankle, broken leg, cracked vertebrae, concussion, burns from his seat belts, and "red eye," a condition where the intensity of the roll causes ocular blood vessels to rupture, creating a red tinge to the eyes.
He will be on crutches for several weeks, but is expected to make a full recovery.
