Last night was one of the shows I have been really looking forward to this year. Port Royal stepped up and paid $30,000 to win and $1,000 to start for an unsanctioned race. Forty-eight cars on hand for the show.
Major kudos to Seam Michael for the win last night with a low-dollar team that has one car and one 410 engine. In the feature, Michael started eighth and drove past everyone who finished in the top five for the win.
1. Sean Michael
2. Greg Hodnett
3. Mike Wagner
4. Jeff Shepard
5. Mike Erdley
The race was run with a twin 25 format, and track did kinda take take rubber for the second half of the feature. Michael shadowed Hodnett for the lead for 20 laps before finally making the pass by driving under Greg in turn four on lap 47.
Crowd was huge for the event, one of the largest I have seen at Port in a while. I hope Saturday night's crowd showed the other tracks in the area that the local fans will support big money shows without an sanction that can put most of the admission revenue into the purse instead of a sanctioning body's coffers.

Well I guess the 1st chapter of the sprint car version of Hoosiers is complete...lol. They won states and now they're heading to Nationals! Feel good story of the year. Hat's off to Sean Michael, Jim Nace, Charlie Garrett, Brian Schnee and whoever else is involved. A lot of people will be pulling for you at Knoxville!

Wow, just noticed in the Victory Lane pic Cubic posted that Sean Michael won a $30,000 feature and the Port couldn't even get his name right on the check. LOL
