I'll be making my first ever trip to Perris and I'm dissapointed that they scheduled this race against the KWS Season Opener at Tulare - that will be televised nonetheless. Takes Kaeding, Allard, Hirst, Netto, Scelzi, etc. out of the question which coming from an outsider who doesn't get to see that talent often is a little frustrating.

The WoO has 14 full-time teams and I know Brian Brown is planning to be at Perris and maybe Lucas Wolfe in the 5w, although the Zemco team may want to run Williams Grove back home this weekend and even if he does end up running that's 16 cars...

Who else could this show possibly draw?

The plus side is that USAC/CRA is on the card so that makes up for the $50 general admission...

I am disappointed that the KWS scheduled a race against the WoO.  Pretty much a given that they are going to be out west for 6 weeks and where they're going to race when they are there.

Tim Kaeding will more than likely run PAS, he is running the full schedule

Bud, I would guess he would run Tulare

KWS is a Nor Cal regional series. I dont think the schedule makers paid too much attention to a track in So Cal, on the last night of the WoO Western swing. The PAS has only receiveda handful of KWS regulars over the past few yrs anyways. Last year, it was only Hirst and Allard. The plan to run this program with the CRA show is a great attraction IMO.

Sorry that is what I was referring to - Bud being at PAS. Tim is running the full tour.

also with the woo only about 20 miles away at hanford on fri, it helps the kws teams who run that show by only having to make a short hop to tulare sat.

to indy and beyond!!

You'd be crazy to miss a local show in your backyard that is being televised to sponsors to go off the porch and run top 10 at best.

KWS doesn't need to worry about losing any cars as I doubt they will nor did any really consider the idea.

Running five car heats is utterly embarassing for a series with the legacy of the WoO.

I think the only way you will get a significant amount of KWS cars down at Perris is to have a two night show and they will NOT do that.

Keep in mind that the majority of the cars in the KWS series are north of the Sacramento area and that is a long haul for a one night race.  Also, Perris like other So/Cal tracks, are non wing so I am not at all surprised there were no cars from central or northern Cal at the race last night.

I've been to the Perris WoO show the past 3 years and the show last night was not the fault of WoO or Don Kazarian, look no further than KWS and ask why they would schedule a race on top of this one.  I'm not going to say there would have been a stellar car count, Perris struggled to get a full field last year as well with only 21 cars and in 2012 there were 26 or 27 cars and they did run a b-main.  Last year there were 7 non-outlaws at Perris (Brian Brown, Jason Meyers, Tim Kaeding, Jonathan Allard, Kyle Hirst, Austen Wheatley and Greg Wilson) and out of those cars only 4 run primarily NorCal and only 2 ran for KWS points.  No matter how you slice it up, a WoO show at a track that doesn't have a strong local contingent of winged 410 cars is going to struggle with car counts.  I have a feeling the long awaited return to Devil's Bowl is going to have a similar problem...that is ASCS 360 country.

By the way, the CRA feature last night was a lot better show than watching WoO regulars follow-the-leader around a rubber down high groove.  Yeah, the restarts were exciting watching Daryn and Joey dice it up for 1 corner, but then they'd string out and it was a yawner after that.

Make not mistake about it.  The April 12, 2014 World of Outlaws - USAC/CRA show at Perris Auto Speedway was announced last year and was clearly listed when the schedule was released last November 21st.  Long before the KWS date at Tulare.

No one gave this a thought?

The five King of the West races that are going to be seen on MAVTV this year include the season-opening Spring Thunder Nationals presented by KRC Safety Company at Thunderbowl Raceway on April 12, the Placerville Speedway event on April 19, the fourth annual Howard Kaeding Classic at Ocean Speedway on July 12, the inaugural Winged Sprint Car event at Ventura Raceway on September 13 and the season-ending 31st annual Tribute to Gary Patterson at the Stockton Dirt Track.

IMO there is life away from the WOO-zers.  they are not the only game in town anymore..

Ascot was the greatest of all time..

West Capital wasn't half bad either..

Life is good...

Running a WoO race at Perris is like running a USAC race at Knoxville, they have to rely on travelers. As mentioned above a two day show (or show at Bakersfield in years past) is a way to get the car count higher. This race may have been more successful if they ran it at the beginning of the west coast swing of a mid week show on the way up north from Tucson (probably not though).
