MSCS SPRINTS OPENER AT LINCOLN PARK DELAYED UNTIL APRIL 12th
Haubstadt, IN - April 6. The 2014 season opener scheduled for the Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car Series has been delayed by a week. The season was to have opened Saturday April 5th with Bill Gardner’s Indiana Open Wheel . Com Racin’ Fest at the Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, IN. The accumulating rainfall from the previous days prompted the decision to postpone the event a week and make use of a rain date that had been prearranged between the speedway and MSCS officials. This special event will now be held on Saturday April 12th. The 30 lap sprint car feature will pay $4,000 to win.
This will be the first time in it’s 14 years of existence that MSCS will open the season with an appearance at the Lincoln Park Speedway. And it is the first of 18 big events on the 2014 MSCS season schedule. Drivers will have added opportunities this year to get into the feature win column. For some it will be an opportunity to add a victory or victories to their list of accumulating wins. Others could grab that important very first victory. Everyone involved will have added opportunities to visit the pay window. Purses for 2014 include eight races that pay $3,000 or more to win.
Two time and defending champion Jon Stanbrough leads in all time MSCS wins with his 19 victories. Daron Clayton is the only other driver in double figures after posting 10 wins. Robert Ballou and Brady Short both have 8 wins. Other drivers with multiple wins that are high on the list and active with MSCS last season include Hunter Schuerenberg, Chase Stockon, Mitch Wissmiller, Kevin Thomas Jr., Chris Windom, Jeff Bland Jr., and Kyle Cummins. In all 55 different sprint car drivers have won MSCS feature races.
Racing at Lincoln Park Speedway begins at 7 P.M. Saturday. Hot Laps are at 6 P.M. Pit gates open at 3 P.M. Fans will want to arrive early enough to enjoy all the action. The main gate and grandstands open at 4:30 P.M. It is the Indiana Open Wheel . Com Racin’ Fest to kick off the 2014 season. Fireworks along with three other divisions of race cars will complete the program.
