Chaz Thompson – DALLAS, TX. (March 31st, 2014) The Weekly Championship Series is set to go racing this Saturday night, April 5th at the Devil’s Bowl Speedway. The series will feature 5 racing divisions: ASI Racing Engines RaceSaver Sprint Cars, Dirt Late Models, USA Modifieds, Blaine’s Motor Supply USA Limited Modifieds, and the all-new Factory Stocks.

SPEED
The ASI Racing Engines RaceSaver Sprint Cars will feature some of the best 305 Sprint Car drivers in the DFW Area. Raven Culp picked up the win at the 41st Annual Spring Nationals last weekend, but he had a host of drivers on the outside looking in. With a top-5 consisting of: Robert Vetter, C.J. Duarte, (17th starter) Martin Edwards, and 2013 Track Champion Logan Payne; the local talent is endless with this group. The 2014 ASI Racing Engines RaceSaver Sprint Car Championship should be a competitive and highly contested battle

MOMENTUM
The Blaine’s Motor Supply USA Limited Modifieds is a division that is lathered with talent. Drivers like: Tom Lorenz, Troy Taylor, Robert Vetter, Michael Daniels, Randy Kirkland, Steve Nabors, Gary Corbin and the list goes on and on, will all be vying for the coveted Limited Modified title. Not to mention the man who has held that title in recent history, 3-time and defending track champion Jimmy Staats out of Edgewood, Texas. It is said to run top-5 at the Devil’s Bowl is a accomplishment in itself, and that statement held true at the 41st Annual Spring Nationals. The top-5 drivers were in a swarm of a battle, in one of the most highly contested battles of the night. With doors rubbing between the v8 of Robert Vetter, and 42 of Randy Kirkland battling for 2nd; while Tom Lorenz in the 84 holding both drivers off for the win. There is no doubt that the championship with be a tough trophy to grab in 2014 at the Devil’s Bowl Speedway in the Blaine’s Motor Supply USA Limited Modifieds.

VELOCITY
The Dirt Late Model division is one of change in the 2014 racing season. The new 2014 rules allow only the “SUPR Spec Motor”. Limiting any advantage a driver had or did not have over the competition in 2013; as well as strengthening the class in numbers. Skip O’Neal had a torrid season in 2013, one that landed him the championship, and 12 wins in 17 starts. Top contenders such as: Wendall Bolden, Tom Lorenz, Troy Taylor, Patrick Daniel, and Sean Jones; graced victory lane throughout the season in 2013. With the new rules package designed to keep the field tighter than ever, the 2014 Devil’s Bowl Speedway Dirt Late Model division will be full of fast cars, close quarters and superior talent.

POWER
The USA Modifeds is another division to experience a change in rules. With a more “USRA-styled” rules package in 2014, the car count and competitiveness of the division should sky rocket. At the 41st Annual Spring Nationals this showed to be true. A four car battle ensued between: Rusty Trevathan Jr, Colby Smith, Charlie Smith and Troy Taylor. Eventual winner Colby Smith had to bide his time to get around Charlie Smith, and wait for a mistake by race long leader Rusty Trevathan Jr. If the opening race for the class is a sign of things to come. The season should be one incased with close, action-packed racing.

DURABILITY
The Factory Stocks are a new addition to the 2014 Weekly Championship Series. The class has been growing in the DFW area, and is now going to test the high speeds at the Historical Half-Mile of the Devil’s Bowl Speedway. Many names have been rumored to put their hand in the battle for the Factory Stocks in 2014. We will all have to see what lays ahead for the division, but early signs are full of excitement.
