Well better late than never, here's the Jonathan Allard speedweek report. I've been without internet since Monday so I'm just now sorting through everything. <img src=/images/Main/smile_100x100.gif border=0 alt=Smile>

Jonathan Allard finishes off Speedweek with top 5 at Skagit

By Gary Thomas

August 3, 2007... Chico’s Jonathan Allard finished off a consistent week of action during the annual Northwest Speedweek with a charge from 19th to 5th at the Bob’s Burgers & Brew 360 Nationals at Skagit Speedway. It was a long and tough week, but in the end it all payed off and Jonathan earned a fourth place finish in the final Speedweek standings, just one point behind Mitch Olson for third.

The start of Northwest Speedweek was supposed to be the first ever Fred Brownfield Memorial Sprint Challenge in Elma, Wash, but unusual rainy July weather forced officials to postpone the event until September 14 and 15. With the rain out in Elma, Jonathan and Williams Motorsports headed South to the Southern Oregon Speedway in Medford, Ore on Monday night July 23. JA’s first 360 sprint car event of the season and first ever with the Northwest Sprint Challenge Series began with him setting fast time out of the 50 cars in attendance. The heat race unfortunately didn’t go so well as the power plant in the Williams 0 let go and forced the team to put in an older engine.

With a different engine under the hood for the B-main, Jonathan brought the GT Trends, Finley Farms, Chris Jones Racing No. 0 home in second to transfer himself into the feature. Starting seventh he was able to get up to fourth by the time officials cut the race short on lap 18 due to a 10 pm curfew at the track. On Tuesday night Jonathan and the Zero Heroes headed up I-5 to the Cottage Grove Speedway for Speedweek Round #2. A 19th place qualifying followed by a fourth place finish in the heat put JA into the main event. Lining up 13th in the feature Jonathan was up on the wheel and carved his way forward to finish seventh in a non-stop 30 lap contest. The final Oregon race of NSCS Speedweek was held at the Willamette Speedway in Lebanon Oregon and Jonathan brought home a fourth place finish in the feature while racing on a track surface that didn't lend itself to much passing.

Thursday was a travel day for teams and then on Friday Speedweek hit the Skagit Speedway for the two-night Bob’s Burgers & Brew 360 Nationals where Jonathan was using his different engine of the week. He was forced to run the B-main on Friday but was able to transfer and give himself a starting spot in the feature. Jonathan was stuck way back in the 20th starting position and he was on the move early. JA got up to 12th when the right rear tire blew out, which made him start from the rear again and he was able to get back up to 15th by the finish to salvage what he could.

Saturday night saw Jonathan in the B-main due to points earned from the opening night of the 360 Nationals. JA did his job and transferred into the main event where he started from the 19th position. Ashley Smith and the crew gave him a great car and Jonathan powered his way forward to bring home a fifth place finish aboard the Village Green Resort, K & N Filters, Red Line Oil, Williams Motorsports No. 0.

Tonight will see Jonathan and the team do battle at the Knoxville 360 Nationals at the Knoxville Raceway in Iowa. For the latest updates log onto http://www.allardmotorsports.com
