Howell (of Rancho Palos Verdes) has been sturdy the last several times he's shown up, but he was bulletproof last night. Jace (who ran second most of the feature) and Rich (who came from tenth or so after getting squeezed early on) took shots at him again and again, but Dennis had the car and unflappable chops to pull away from them as well as avoid the severe misfortunes of the suddenly expiring cushion in turn four.

Faria did his usual come-through-the-field thing (tho more by attrition than passing this time, at least until the late going). Liggett likewise. Turn Four extinguished a good ten of the non-wings after the Outlaws and Kings ran off 35 in a row almost without incident (until after the flag was thrown). Mitchell had been in contention for the podium until he made the casualty list in the late laps.

'13 Champ Daryn Pittman took the lead from Donny Schatz to win an expeditious but uneventful Outlaw feature on a track that seemed to work well for the more experienced drivers tonight by contrast with last year's destruction derby.

If you're coming tomorrow and don't yet have tickets, I'd suggest getting there by 4:30-4:45. The Friday crowd wasn't SRO, but the place was pretty full.
