It's snowing like hell here in Knoxville again. Racing seems a long ways away so I was just browsing race stuff. We've all seen variations of the sprint car Mt. Racemore (Rushmore) picture with Outlaws, or national traveling drivers before that, but who would be on your Mt. Racemore for your local track? Guys who won a ton of championships or features or just guys that put on great shows year in and year out for the local fans. It will be interseting to hear about drivers from across the nation that never ran a tour or traveled but are legends at their hometown track. ONLY 4!
Being from Knoxville there are 3 guys that are a lock: Lasoski, McCarl, Randy Smith. For my 4th I'm going with Earl Wagner. His era was before my time but #'s don't lie and I did get to see him run the Masters Classic in the 90's and was in awe that a guy that had not ran for so long could throw the right rear agaist the fence and let her eat like he did.
Lasoski
McCarl
Smith
Wagner

Tough question especially if ur talking Knoxville. Do we have to disallow Nationals winners and only go with weekly winners?

Yep, only guys that were locals or regulars. If they started out, or ran a good part of their career at your local track, they are ok but they need to call your track 'home'. The Dude is obviously ok for Knoxville but Kinser, Schatz or Sammy were never regulars anywhere. I could have added Wolfie, Leavitt, Brown or Brooks but had to keep it to 4. This should be fun hearing from different tracks and different eras.

tough one, I'm also from K'ville but mine's a little different than yours (I lump everyone together including 360 drivers)
Lasoski -- 100 wins, multiple championships, Nationals and 360 Nationals Championships
Hesmer - 60+ wins in the 360's (no one is even close to him, not even Garner and his domination the past 5 years), multiple championships, 360 Nationals Champ too
Wolfie -- 60+ wins (and he didn't race here locally that many years), track championship and 5 Nationals wins
Smith -- 6 Track Championships (with 6 different car owners I believe), multiple wins and won with and without the wing, owned his own team toward the end and is still seen in the pits from time to time

Mark Keegan has dominated around Ohio for a long time, multi time track champ at Fremont and Attica and maybe other tracks as well. Brett 'the Rocket' Mann has been awfully tough for years in the Michigan area and Ed Lynch was the man to beat in Western PA for years and years. I think Dion Hindi's Dad may have been a frequent winner around New Mexico back in the day as well.....

Growing up going to Husets, here is my list. I remember as a youngster every night being Lasoski vs McCarl. Those two would have to be the ultimate rivals of Husets & Knoxville. The other two spots I would have to leave open between quite a few drivers. If you are talking sprints in general (360s and 410s) I would lump Jake Peters, Mark Dobmeier, Micah Schlieman (sp), Clint Garner, & Chad Meyer all in to one group behind those two. That does not take in to account some of the guys before my time. Doug Wolfgang also ran as a local for a few years when I was a little guy after his accident so I don't know if you can count him or not. Jake Peters, Micah Schlieman (sp), & Clint Garner had a heck of a run between the three of them for quite a while in the 360s. Throw Chad Meyer in there between the 360s and the 410s and Husets has had some good ones in the past.

Knoxville
I would have:
Eddie Leavitt (Hulman Winner, 2 Time Nationals winner, Champ dirt winner, USAC feature winner, Jayhawk Nationals and others)
Doug Wolfgang
Randy Smith
Earl Wagner
Jerry Blundy
Danny Lasoski
Jay Woodside (Nationals Winner, Manzanita Winner many features)
I would add McCarl because he has been a great promoter in the area as well as Driver.
Knoxville could have a bunch..Dick Sutcliffe, Ray Lee Goodwin
