Great inteveiw with Bubba Clem on Winged Nation.  He has some very good points.  Not one car flipped or crashed the entire night.  Can't beleive over 10 drivers pulled out of the race that night.

Hindsight's 20/20. I can't listen to the interview right now but will later - dude sounds like a prick from reading his Twitter. I understand his money is on the line, but if you want the WoO guys to race, pay the WoO sanction fee like everyone else. Pretty simple to me.

He gave the TSR team free testing at his track and he paid for Kinsers team (maybe others too) to stay in a hotel. I'd say he did pay up and in the end he got shafted. The track held up and no cars were tore up, none. I dont have a dog in this fight but if I were attending the event and saw their trailers pulling out of the pits I would be PISSED!

Cheers!

That make it a bit murkier but doesn't change the hindsight argument of no cars being torn up - that's results-oriented thinking.

I'd say Bubba probably sealed the deal on them leaving yesterday by running his mouth on Twitter. Pretty ridiculous to present himself like that. If I lived in the area, I'd pass on going to the track.

"If I lived in the area, I'd pass on going to the track".  Ha, you're going to miss races and in a way hurt the teams that race there because of a twit?.... I'm not into name calling, but hey, who's the twit?

For years I sat in the stands at Manzy and listen to people bad mouth Keith Hall and all I had to say about that was, I don't give a shit what he say's, as long as he keeps putting water on and taking care of the track.

After listening this morning, I've come to the realization that Bubba is a "rough around the edges" type of promotor which won't serve him well long-term.

Yes, you got through the night without incident, but that is secondary to the bigger issue and that is putting safety first.  In his "rant" on the radio he stated that he knows his dirt and could guarantee that it wouldn't rut up.  Hate to break this to him, but he doesn't have "control" over it rutting up, that is a by-product of the amount of moisture, the type of dirt, and the cars/tires racing on it.  It could be smooth from lap 1-10 of a race and then become rutty for laps 11-25.  He stated himself that he told the drivers he would till it up between races, what good is that if it ruts up DURING the race??

Another thing that sticks with me is how he "blames" Lasoski (for the record, he's not in my top 100 favorite drivers) for the other guys leaving.  Believe me, drivers only care about one driver, and that's themselves, Lasoski leaving just meant 1 less driver to compete for the win against to them.  I personally don't blame Lasoski, saw him pull out of Spencer, IA last September and had I been able to get a refund on my tickets, I probably would have too.

Sure, Bubba gave TSR free track time and hotel rooms, but did he ever have the team sign a contract that stated they were contractually obligated to run the events in exchange??  my guess is he didn't and he's just trying to save face by throwing this information out there.

From the looks of Blaney's car (who started up front and won the race), the track must have still been REALLY MUDDY at the end of the feature.

From a fan standpoint, did he damage his reputation or enhance it by running??  My guess is a little of both, the "Die-Hards" were extatic that they ran, but the "fringe fans" were PO'ed since they drug the show out to rework the track after every race.

As far as the twitter rants go, IMO, I have yet to see one that ends up being positive for the person doing the ranting....

I'm not interested in spending money that will directly go to someone who publically and verbally berates drivers in an extremely unprofessional waywhen he doesn't get his way. I'll gladly support drivers directly by buying merchandise or by attending races at other tracks.

Isn't this the same guy that had it out with USAC drivers a few years ago?

They could not even run a few laps?  As a fan I would have been pissed also. I feel for Bubba. He did everything he could and some of the teams could not even run a few laps. Lasoski, Brown, and Tony Stewart were on his show quite a bit a few years ago when Bubba was on Sirius. He gave them airtime when 99% of his listeners did not even have clue who there were.

A bad situation for everybody involved.

Don't blame Bubba he has a lot on his plate

More weight, more regulation, more similarity in the
cars.... that will ensure plenty of thrills for years
to come. Only the most average talent behind the
wheel will be needed with such awesome equipment on
the track!

The guy has done an awful lot of good to the track and the area since he took over, of course he promised as much.  He was interviewed in a racing magazine when he got the track and the one thing I remember is how he talked about eventually having the first dirt track that wouldn't have rainouts (unless the rain didn't stop during the evening), some kind of quick-apply tarp system I think.  Sounded crazy as hell at the time and still does. Isn't he the "radio shock jock" track owner/promoter or former "radio shock jock" personality.

This isn't the first time something like this happened.  I was at a local track and it rain some then the sunshine came out.  They had a drviers meeting and the top WoO drivers didn't want to run but the low budget locals wanted to.  The locals told the WoO to look at the huge crowd in the stands, let's do it for them.  The WoO ( 2 drivers) told Ted they weren't going to run so they cancelled the event.  I really didn't understand why the so called best of the best couldn't run a track that the low budget weekend racer was willing to run on.  Sometimes I think they forget where they came from and who really makes this great sport that we love.

The reduction in cars to a point that all made the feature is most likely the reason they did not have the crashes.  I saw a lot of griping on social media because that show took too long to run because of the conditions.  So fans were not completely happy they got to see a race.  Plus this track and it's locals are not on good terms last I saw in the early winter months as the weekly show payouts have been drasticly cut.

IMO I think Bubba a joke after this past weekend.. I was following along on twitter Sunday night & listened to Winged nation show Tuesday.. He lied about bad mouthing WoO drivers on his radio show, when he was asked about it on Winged Nation. Monday morning was the first & last time I'll ever listen to his show. He made the comment about about Schatz & Kinser taking their tampons out & racing Monday night during a segment about the weather And he was ranting on about the locals businesses helping out with equipment..  Kendra  or Steve asked him about  saying anything bad about  drivers on his show & he denied it..  HE LIED!!!    Then during the interview on Winged Nation he talked about the track was soft. & even he wouldn't want to race on it but complained out the drivers leaving..  This guy is a 2 face POS in my books..   When I called him out on something late Sunday night & Monday morning on twitter he banned me..

You can research some of the post that were on twitter  by looking at my twitter account @THfield77 (Tony Harshfield)  I'm not asking anyone to follow me.. But it can lead to some of the post that bubba twitired.. No I wasn't there in Florida, I'm here in frozen ohio.. I'm just a fan of Sprint cars. I understand as a fan that wouldnt been fun sitting there hearing 30+ cars then only a few over 20 race cause they left due to a quistionable track surface..  It wasn't points for them.  If bubba would've have respected the teams choice to not race Sunday night, I would think most of them would've returned Monday night..

Ok ok my rant  is over I think.. Lol
