Need some info on camping for the Nationals. Looking for a place as close to the track as possible with electric, water and shower house. Can someone help me with some contact info? THANKS.

Try vandonsler.com

We stayed there last year for the 1st time after 10 years at the north campground.  It is a 10-15 minute walk.  ?    Nice people and had open spots yet even during the nationals.  Water and electric too.

They also have a lot that is much closer to the racetrack called Shinn's lot.  It is a gravel lot and is 5 minutes from the track.

Hope this helps!

if your going for the nationals and dont like the walk, Vondonslers "north Campground" is a bit of a hike, i dont know your age, but his shinns lot might be more of your desire (closer to the track and the walk really depends on your age and HEAT of the day) showers are located behind ticket office at the track, and under grandstand  or I belive the Armory  just north of the Hyvee(maybe two blocks?) has showers  also,  maybe a good chance to grab a shower and some flapjacks/benchrace if your into that sort of thing (again its a age thing) ive only experianced the "Brekfie" call once in 8 years of attending. we stay at the North Campground of Vondonslers, but we have a contained unit, in my experiance that is the way to go, but,  if your traveling light there is options aval.. already excited for August, best time of the year!

Try the bowling alley. Directly across from North lot. Less crowded and great owners.

We went around a little this morning...the campground by Red Carpet, which is full hook up, their phone # is 641-842-3055. The lady at the Catholic church said they have open spots...no hook ups but access to water and there is a guy who goes around and pumps tanks. Anyway, best to call her for details. She is Kathy Herwehe phone # is 641-828-7050. Also stopped by the track and asked about spots at the North campground(across from the bowling alley, 4 blocks from the track). She said they still have spots, but usually fill reservations by first of March. They charge $165 for 4 days of racing time. Should call her, also , for details. Number is 641-842-5431. Those are the best options if he wants close to the track. Other wise, the county campground on the other side of town may have spots. Nice campground with full hook ups. If he is interested in that, I can find a number for that as well. Hope this helps. He should call around soon if he wants to commit to coming for the races. Always nice to have someone “new” in town.

What is the Shinn's like for Vandonsler's?  Have you ever been by that one?  We were going to take a look at that one while there but forgot last year.  I like the location on the map.

thanks
