FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LEPPO BACK ON THE MARKET FOR A RIDE
By Brad Vores for Leppo Racing, Inc.

NEW OXFORD, PA

With less than a month remaining until the kickoff of the Sprint car season here in Central Pennsylvania, it‘s not a good time for a driver to find himself on the market for a ride.
But that is the position Brian Leppo finds himself in.
“I’d like to thank John and Peewee Zemaitis for the opportunity to drive their car,” Leppo said about his brief stint in the Zemco sprinter in 2013. “Obviously this isn’t the best time to put your name out there on the market for a 410 ride, but I would really like to continue racing. The last two years certainly weren’t what we had hoped for in the career. I’ll entertain any offers that might still be available to run a 410 this season.”
Leppo made 17 starts in the Zemco car in 2013, finishing in the top 10 12 times.
Interested parties can contact Brian at 410-984-1514.

They could've released him sooner so he atleast at a shot at another ride. Why wait till the season is about ready to start. :naughty: Team Zemco just lost some respect from me.

No suprise hear!!   I think I called this a few months ago!

Leppo's best chance to run again is for him to bring back his family owned 71.

As far as Dollansky running the car, well I think there is a better chance in hell freezing over.

I said it before, I am saying it again Stevie Smith, they will fill in when he dosn't run for Rahmer, and they will run the All Star, Outlaw, and big money shows!!

Zemco and Smith had alot of success together in the past! There is no reason to believe they would not be successful again!

Last I heard, there won't even be a Zemco car next season...

Although this press release does make it sound a like a "split"

zemco lost a lot of respect from me for waiting till less than a month from season to drop a quality driver.  I don't understand why the dropped him, but that's why i don't have anything to do with the team.

Did Leppo ever actually have the ride?  I though last year was on a fill in basis and they hadn't named a driver yet for this year.  Until the Rahmer press release everybody thought Stevie was going to get the ride.

Zemco has my respect and always will have my respect for even fielding a sprint car.  I still don't understand why some people think because they buy a ticket to enter the gate they are ENTITLED to anything.  If Leppo were never hired to drive the Zemco ride what were his options for this year?  He wasn't inline for the Dietz or Heffner cars, the additional Rahmer car is obviously a jab a CJB (I got no problem with that move) so that ride didn't exist.  What other rides were available?  Bottom line is there are more qualified drivers that rides.  Chances are they were trying to make it work for this year and just decided its not going to work so they issued a press release.

. How do you know? He could've had a shot at one of those rides if he was let go at the end of the seaon instead of 1 month before the season starts. Maybe Rahmer will let Leppo race when Stevie isnt. (wishfull thinking) Maybe someone else wouldn't have gotten the 3rd Shrak motorsports ride if they knew Leppo was avalible. There were a few what ifs if Zemco released him sooner. Now there isnt any what ifs. I dont think Brian would've bought a new suit at the end of the season if he knew he wasn't going to be in the car this year. so i wonder what happened between then and now?

I did not vote for Obama, thanks for being the typical smartass on a message board.  Forgot people are NOT entitled to their opinions on a public DISCUSSION.

I respect your opinion, I may not always agree with it, but I respect it...

Do yourself a favor, just don't write the word retard in any of your posts or you might have some mental patient want to drive half way across the country to "see" you about it... wink

I wouldn't be surprised if the Zemco team isn't around next year.    Vicki Leppo told me they are down in Florida now and won't even be back in PA until the end of March.    Next time I see her I will ask what happened exactly.

Just because John and Pee Wee are in FLA, dosn't mean there will not be a car.

I would be willing to bet a better drive came along!!

Sounds like Ryan, who maintained and worked on the car left the Zemco team and went with Hodnett this year.    It's almost impossible for Brian Leppo to make a 3 hour trip to the Zemco shop to build cars when he has a full time job and kids.   I'd say Zemco will field a car, will most likely be a driver who is able to work on and maintain the car tho.

A Note from John & PeeWee

January 29, 2014 at 7:54pm

Our plans for this year were to race a program similar to our last few years with Brian Leppo at the wheel.  Besides a driver behind the wheel, it takes the time and energy of many more people to put forth a successful effort.  Recent changes in our team personnel have left a gap in our ability to field a car at the level we have in the past, and our schedule for this season will not be what we anticipated.  Although the timing is unfortunate relative to the start of the season, all of us knew this was a possible outcome when we began talks for this year.  In spite of Brian and friends’ willingness to help with car building, preparations, and repairs, the long commute between their location and ours would make much of our proposed schedule very impractical.

We would like to thank Brian for the outstanding job he has done for us behind the wheel.  Brian, his family, and friends are truly nice people, a real pleasure to be around, making our inability to put all the pieces in place all the more disappointing.  We wish Brian and company the best of luck in all of his future racing endeavours.

We would also like to extend thanks to Ryan Hand, a longtime employee of Zemco until late last year.  Ryan wore many hats, contributing his mechanical abilities, fabrication skills and truck driving to our Racing Team, as well as our Speed Shop and Tool & Die sides of our business.  Best wishes to Ryan in his new role.

We hope to finalize our plans for this season soon, and will keep everyone posted as the details are worked out.

John & PeeWee Zemaitis
