WINTER SERIES KICKS OFF KERN RACEWAY SEASON ON SATURDAY

BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA (January 9, 2014) - Kern County Raceway Park, fueled by Monster Energy, will begin its 2014 season this Saturday afternoon with the first round of the inaugural Winter Series at the brand-new speedway. Nearly a dozen different classes of cars will be action on the quarter- and one-eighth mile tracks in front of the main grandstands at the park.

Headlining the Winter Series activities will be the Open Comp Stock Cars, where any full size race car is legal as long as they utilize IMCA Hoosier G60-15 tires. The Open Comp Stock Cars will stage a 35 lap feature to wrap up the afternoon of racing.

Other divisions on the quarter-mile will include the popular INEX Legends and INEX Bandoleros, NASCAR Mini Stocks, and Pro 4 Modifieds. One-eighth mile action will be staged for both Jr. and Sr. Mini Dwarfs, Stock and Mod Karts, and a temporary 1/12th mile oval will be laid out for Honda 120 and 160 Quarter Midgets.

All told, more than 250 laps of feature racing will take place with racers traveling from all over the western United States to participate in the rare January race date. The series will run again on February 22nd as a precursor to open practice days in March. The half-mile speedway and the regular season fires off with the DC"s RV Center 100 for the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour on Saturday night April 5th.

Pit gates will open at 9 a.m. with practice running from 10 a.m. - noon. The first main event will hit the track at 12:30 p.m. with racing to conclude before sunset. Pit passes are $25 for any NASCAR or INEX members, and $35 for non-members. Kart drivers under 16, as well as all Mini Dwarf and Quarter Midget drivers, will be allowed into the pits free of charge.

Grandstand tickets will be $10 for ages 6 and up, with ages 5 and under free! Concession stands will be open for the fans, merchandise will be on sale, and 2014 single race and season tickets are also on sale on Saturday at the ticket window.
