Brett Miller finishes 10th to cap off initial GSC campaign

By Gary Thomas

Chico, CA - July 30, 2007... As the 2007 Golden State Challenge Series season came to a close Saturday night at Silver Dollar Speedway, Chico’s Brett Miller charged up from the 18th starting position to tally his ninth top 10 finish of the season. The 18 year-old driver has been fighting through engine problems and steering box problems throughout the last month or so, but the whole Care Free Pools team has remained positive and finished off our first full season of GSC competition this past weekend.

The GSC finale double header weekend began with a tough one on Friday that saw Brett miss the main event, but he came back on Saturday looking to finish off the season with a strong run. After finishing third in his heat race behind Sean Becker and Brent Kaeding, the Catfish was ready for the final 30 lap main event of the GSC season. Lining up 18th aboard the Care Free Pools, Platinum Powder Coating, JP’s Paint & Body, Smartwebsales.com No. 1x, Brett methodically worked his way forward and brought home a 10th place finish at the checkered flag.

After 25 races Brett finished his rookie season with the Golden State Challenge Series with a seventh place finish in the final point standings. It was a fun season with GSC but a long one as luck didn’t seem to be on the youngster's side very often. Still he was able to bring home three top five finishes, including back to back fourth place runs at Medford and Quincy in June. He also picked up three heat race wins with the series and earned a ton of experience racing with some of the top drivers in the western United States.

Even though the Golden State Challenge Series season is over, there is still a lot of racing left to go before ‘07 is finished off. This month for Care Free Pools Racing will be spent racing at the Silver Dollar Speedway in the Feather Falls Casino Friday night point series. There are four races left this month in Chico and they will all be spent trying to get ready for the big $50,000 to win Gold Cup Race of Champions, which takes place in early September.

We’d like to thank all of our sponsors and crew for helping out and making it through the Golden State Challenge Series season and we now look forward to the rest of the year.
