BRYAN CLAUSON DOUBLES UP AT CANYON’S WESTERN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
CHRISTOPHER BELL AND DARREN HAGEN WIN PRELIMS

PEORIA, AZ – NOVEMBER 19, 2013... Taking the lead off the final corner, Noblesville, Indiana’s Bryan Clauson scored a dramatic victory at the 46th Annual Sands Chevrolet Western World Championships presented by the Racers Advantage Store.” Not only did Clauson earn the $7,500 Honda USAC National/Western Midget Car triumph, he claimed the $7,500 USAC SouthWest/West Coast Sprint finale, and won an additional $5,000 bonus for his efforts at Canyon Speedway Park. Friday night winner Darren Hagen, Thursday night winner Christopher Bell, Tracy Hines, and Dave Darland followed the USAC National Sprint Champion to the checkered flags.

Piloting the CTR/BCI/Curb/Agajanian #39 Mobil 1 / Curb Records Spike, Bryan Clauson made history at Canyon Speedway Park with his accomplishments at the Western World Championships. Beford scoring his sixth Honda USAC Western Midget feature, Clauson had recorded a third place finish on Thursday’s opener and earned “Hard Charger / Best Passing Job” honors on Friday with a fifth place run after starting twentieth.

With the Saturday night $7,500 victory in his sights, Darren Hagen of Riverside, California had to settle for second. Racing the 5ive-6ix Inc. #56 Great Clips / Fatheadz Eyewear Beast, Hagen scored fourth in the Thursday night main event before claiming his third career USAC Western Midget victory on Friday.

Norman, Oklahoma’s Christopher Bell claimed third in the Western World finale. Driving the Kunz/Curb/Agajanian #71 Toyota TRD Bullet, the USAC National Midget point leader won the Thursday night feature and placed third in the Friday night main event. Bell is marching closer to earning the national title and rookie of the year honors in 2013.

Brad Kuhn, USAC Western point leader Ronnie Gardner, and Jake Swanson had strong runs in the Saturday finale. Kuhn, by virtue of his sixth place finish had earned the night’s “Hard Charger / Best Passing Job” honors behind the wheel of Mason Cook’s #10 Willits Towing & Recovery / Speedy Signs Beast.

Zach Daum of Pocahontas, Illinois earned the Thursday night “Hard Charger / Best Passing Job” honors with a twenty-second to seventh place run. Racing the family owned #5D Daum Corp Insurance / Weld Wheels Eagle, Daum scratched from the Friday main event and scored twenty-fourth in the Saturday feature.

The Honda USAC Western Midget Series will travel to Yuma, Arizona’s Cocopah Speedway for two nights of action. Starting Friday, November 22nd, the 2-day showcase will also feature the popular West Coast Late Model Shootout Series. The Pit Gates will open at 2:00pm, the Front Gates open at 5:00pm with Racing scheduled to begin at 7:00pm.
