Never did hear why Jason Johnson did not run Saturday night at the STN.

Anyone know?

after reworking the track he knew the track was going to be one lane hammerdown & you were going to hafta make moves & he didnt want to wad his stuff up or get caught in others wrecks. Prob a good move cuz there was a lot of junked cars after the rain delay. This came straight from his mouth!

Since he became famous? He is only a 360 ASCS racer, that's about it,can't even make it in the 410 world,so he's not THAT famous! Lmao

Don't know but would guess he decided it just wasn't worth it.  He missed the A by one spot on Fri.  That would have put him starting 10th in a C on Sat.  At Little Rock the chances of getting torn up are higher than chances of making the A main from there, particularly after the rain delay.  He wasn't the only good car that called it quits.  The format, competition, and track pretty much eliminates you of you don't have a good opening night.  In fact, after a quick review, the only car in the A main on Sat that wasn't in its qualifying night A main was the track champion provisional.  No cars that started in a C on Sat made the A.  Pretty tough sledding.

Ok, let me rephrase, Since HE thinks he has become famous.

Just get out there and race, if you don't make the feature, you don't make it.  Just don't use some lame excuse that you don't like the track...  I agree with not wanting to tear up equipment, but you take that chance everytime you get on a track, no matter the track conditions.

What other good car(s) called it quits?

What about the E driver folks least that got out there and raced...

Lol.  I guess if you were paying the bills you could tell him to race or go home.  These cars don't run on attaboys and they ARE dangerous.  Teams usually go to a race with a goal in mind.  If it becomes obvious they have no chance at that goal a lot of them decide it isn't worth the risk just to go for a joy ride.  Cars who DNS Sat: WJ, JJ, Loyet, Crocket, Wilson, Shouse, Brandon Hahn, Bowden, Reutzel, just to name a few.  According to Lonnie's report, 30 cars DNS.  Some of them no doubt had mechanical problems but many just said no thanks.

When you are the one providing the financing for Jason's efforts, then and only then should you have a say in when and why he does or doesn't run.  Just to unload and run last in the C feature can cost around $1,000.  Unless you are guarenteed a spot in the A, why waist money and time?

Not my problem.  I pay my money to come and watch cars race, not load up and go home because they do not like the track.

BTW : it's waste not waist

You are correct.  Most ASCS drivers do not have alot of money .  He used his brains because he knew it would be tuff to go from back of  C to back of B to run  in A.  The pay off is so little in these races that you would not make enough to pay for alcohol.

For the record, I wish Jason would have made an effort, but its tough to make forward progress on a narrow track, especially immediately following a rain delay.

With that said, the money and effort required to field a sprint car easily exceeds the fee you shelled out to ultimately warm the bench. While I'm sure the race teams appreciate your loyal support, at the end of the day, they owe you nothing.

Take a look at this and then blast JJ...

Start last in the A main on Saturday, one run lap and pull in and get paid $2500.

Run the race and pass (16) or so cars, and finish 5th and get paid $2800.

Risk all that for an additional $300. Smart business decision on Johnson's part...

Thats the part people are not thinking about. If he wouldve trashed his car then they wouldnt have had a backup car for elpaso, lascruces&cocapah in two wks. They were leaving from littlerock going that way today. Run for that lil money or salvage a championship witch is 60,000,30,000 of witch would be his. No brainer to me but haters will hate!

Thanks for the spelling lesson.  However, my waist is my waste.  I was not there but it sounds like the feature had plenty for your money.  Jason was not the only famous driver absent from the feature.

I think Ikracecar is laden with a sense of entitlement.

Maybe if lkracecar had just said "I wish he'd have run, I'd like to have seen him" everybody could calm down?
